Damascus Ram

Wow,

I like D "Dammy Rammy" Goosemon!!! Looks ok to me there my BF brother. Remember with any natural material you may get variation that you don't care for. Take a good look at as many knives made from that material and let the CS know what variation you like. They will try to meet your request. But, if you don't tell them...or at least ask...you get what you get. Goose pin-less is the way to go on that one.

I'm still on the fence and have not ordered a rammy 110...need to see the rest of your Rammy 110's when the come in. That way I can tell Pete what variation I'd like ;). I've looked at a few Rammy handles that I did not like...they were ruff bark that looked drity & dry; almost a white chalky look :(...that I don't like. I hope my 500 Texas star is not like that.

Beautiful knife! I hope mine (bg42 not Dam) looks half that good. It is interesting that the dam blade is a 2006. Wasn't that about the time they "ran out"? I am just surprised they had any laying around. Now I want mine even more.

Now that I look at the pictures real good.....scales match fine, at least to my eye.

The blade markings are still a mystery.

How, exactly, is the blade marked? Both sides? And with what?

Very good looking knife to me, scales look fine in the pic.

Very nice damascus blade also! Sorry about the date stamp, wouldn't bother me but I understand your point.

Makes me wish I have ordered the NS scales with my ram horn now. However, I'm still hoping the brass will give it a warmer look. Will have to see......

Thanks for the pics.

Thanks all for the comments on my DamRamBo.
Wanted to let you know that I wrote Buck and got an answer this AM.
Message was asking if there were any 2008 tang stamped Damascus blades.
If they did, I was gonna save my lunch money for another one in Brass/Ram.
Still not certain on the pins.

Anyway...no dice.

Here's the meat of the burger:

"Goose!
You got the very last Damascus blade in the building. I’ve had to turn away other orders.
I’m not sure when we are getting any more blades and I am not sure if they will have a year code stamp on them.
They might just read “Buck Custom” on the blade".

Oh-Oh! So, if you got the last one in the building, does that then mean than other orders placed for damascus blades at the same time that yours was placed are not going to be filled?  :( :grumpy:

I am certain all will be ok. It was the "last" one...not the "only" one ;) :)

I'm happy.

My order must be waiting until the new blades come in......at least I hope so.

Thus I may not get stuck with a Wal-Mart stamp.

I would be picky too, after all ,its a custom 110 not a regular one.I must say that just going by the pics though,it looks great, having the 06 blade would piss me off royally though, how does that fit into a collection a 08 knife with a 06 blade?I dunno, good luck!

Yeah...kind of goofy. Reminds me of that Johnny Cash song "One Piece at a Time". It's not the end of the world though...just made it easy for me to make it my new EDC :)

BTW, the Steel du Jour menu on the custom site shows only various 420HC and s30V as available.

as to tang stamps on dam ss ... from what i gather it seems there was one or two orders of it for special runs..but could jest be two diffrent stampings times.. still ...
the one ten blades seem to have been made in two different runs.. 2006 and 2007
mine is a 2007 stamp which constantly reminds me of chickentrax.
during the time between runs the date stamp changed...as all were used then none in stock with 08 date stamp..
... orders are filled and blades used with no notice taken of date codes...
buck wastes nothing... this is why i don't really like date stamps
that is why IMHO on customs put no date stamp..
your blade being of the first batch was likely the result of a very hard and thorough searchafter it was found that they ran out!
in that if it had not been for eagle eye folks looking out for you,
your blade might NOT have been found. ware with pride on your ride..
and have a beer for me...

Based on what I was told when I called about my order, there were a few damascus blades left and then they would have to order more before they were able to fill future orders. It is most likely that Goose got his knife made from one of the remaining damascus blades on hand. I have not heard from Buck and I suspect that there will be somewhat of a lag before any future damascus bladed custom 110's are shipped. If I'm mistaken, someone please correct me. What Dave said makes a lot of sense.

You betcha Dave!!!!
I continue to think that I must've done something right in a former life...as I am a lucky buck....not rich, famous, good looking, or smart...but I am happy...and grateful for each day God gives me on this side of the grass. Hope all y'al get your orders soon.
