If you would like a sheath, I will ship direct to Normark or Leatherman (bladeforums names) - you can work out the style/cost with them.

The green coral you see as the handle was part of a large football-sized piece found in the middle of a field in Iowa by John Andrews - a knifemaker here on Bladeforums. This coral is the real deal and extremely rare - especially as a knife handle. As you can see, it is absolutely stunning (see closeup photo to see the cellular structure).

Even though this piece is a rare beauty, it is intended for use and very sharp.

Thanks for looking!

Thanks, Brendan!

Still looking for a home....:D

Dan, That is a rare beauty indeed. If my knife buying hadn't gotten a little out of control, over the last couple of weeks, that knife would definitely be on its' way to NJ. Keep up the great work. Hopefully I'll be in a better position to purchase one of your next offerings.

Ken - thanks for the sincere compliment. I have a few more damascus pieces coming soon, but this is the only one in coral. That stuff is hard to find and keep on the table...

So, does this mean you don't have any $$ left for Blade?!?
:D :p :p

from John Andrews:

The said coral is fossilized coral from here in Iowa. Yes, this was all seabed here, at one time. The coral we find in creek and river beds, and this particular rare color rock I bought at a yard sale for a buck. The folks thought I was crazy when I saw the rock along side their sidewalk and asked them if it was for sale. Anyhow, it turned out to be a great investment because of the color and also it being coral. The stuff is pretty hard, about agate hardness. Dan's handle cabs have other mineral natural coloring, primarily iron coloring that gave it the brown/green color. This particular rock has a silica deposit that gives it a lot of sparkle in sunlight.
