Knife OAL; 11 1/4 inches
Blade;1084/15N20 Tool Steel.Blade length 6 5/8 inches.Thickness 1/8 inch with file work
Handle; Sperm Whale Tooth with whale bone face and hand carved whale bone guard.Shadowed scrimshaw design on handle behind guard.
When building this knife I was trying to achieve a weathered natural look from the color of the Damascus and scrimshaw to my design of the blade trying to get it all to flow together.Instead of using ink on the scrimshaw I used charcoal and hand rubbed it as I was drawing the design.This is how they did ancient scrimshaw.The blade has a beautiful Hamon and the false edge is not sharp. Needless to say my photos do no justice.Anyway hope you all like it and comments are always appreciated. Thanks for taking a look.
