Damascus ring for the wife.

Got board today so I made my wife a ring out of some scrap Damascus I had laying around.

That is really cool! How did you make the ring shape?

[/IMG]. Had this crescent wrench laying around it was already pointed on the end but not enough. I ground it down to a better point thenHardened it. Then got one of my wife's rings put it on the wrench and marked where it went down to. Then put the wrench up through the hardy hole of my anvil. Heated my Damascus and started tapping it down alternating sides each time I heated it.

Depending on the damascus mix, you may need to make a silver or gold liner for that band. If plain carbon damascus is used, it may stain the finger and/or rust.

That's cool!Couldn't you simply clear coat it to hold off oxidation?

Good idea! I didn't even think about that. I think it would have to at least help.

Doesn't work on rings....too much wear and rubbing against the skin and abrasion against everything else.
