Just finished this one. Knife is 3 7/16" closed and 6" open. Mosiac abalone pearl handle. Thanks for looking.

When I first saw the knife, I whispered out loud, "Wooooowwwww." That doesn't happen often. Beautiful, just beautiful.

My birthday is this month. Can someone please, please send me that!!!? :D :D   :D :D

I'm afraid I'm going to have to be the lone voice of dissent. I love the look of the abalone together with the damascus bolsters. That is just fantastic.

However, to my tastes, the damascus blades are too much -- too busy. I think the knife would look better with either a simpler, more understated, damascus pattern, or plain carbon steel blades.

Don-

As always your workmanship is both tasteful and flawless.

Having said that, upon reflection I may be inclined to agree about the choice of damascus for this particular combination...It's a very cool pattern, but might be just a bit too aggresive with that beautiful abalone, which is already inherently busy (Just my taste...but then that's why we have so many flavors). ;)

I love that repeating pattern you created with your "dead-on" filework...Those backspines are mirror images!

Wonderful!

Yeah Baby!

Normally I might agree with you about it being too busy, but I like this one. There is just so much to look at it you could stare at it for hours and still not see everything. I just wish I could hold the thing in my hands.

Thanks for the great comments. I really appreciate them. It is important to me to know how others feel about my knives and I'm never disappointed on this forum.

Thanks again, Don :D :D :D

That is the most singular and spectacular trapper I have ever seen - the new owner must be delighted .... and if there is no new owner yet I would be only too happy to give it a loving home!

simply amazing....although I gotta agree with Dave, and would like to see some blade lip or gold lip instead of the abalone.......just my tastes..

I would love to own it, just the way it is!!!

I keep coming back to this one as well.

Now I'm not trying to hedge on my earlier opinion (but then again, perhaps I am). Individually, everything about this knife is just wonderful...the extraordinary filework, the blade, the bolsters, and the abalone handle...they're all fantastic! The more I look at this the more I begin to suspect that this may be one of those times, where the photos are working against the knife and it just has to be seen in person to appreciate the material combination.

Knowing how tasteful Don's work is historically, I think my suspician may be well founded...He simply wouldn't turn out a knife that wasn't extremely, aesthetically pleasing. ;)

Dennis,
I think the knife does look better "in person" as opposed to the pictures I took. I know the new owner is very happy with the knife and that makes me happy. I almost did not post it on the forums but I'm really glad I did.
Thanks, Don
