Up for sale is a Damascus seax I just finished.
Damascus is made from 15n20 and bandsaw blade steel. The bandsaw blade steel heat treats to around 62rc out of the quench and is extreamly fine grain. I use this steel for fillet knives and is very tough and gets crazy sharp. It really makes a good mix with the 15n20 with good contrast and welds very nice. This Damascus was dry welded meaning no flux was used in the welding process. This is achieved from proper forge atmosphere and grinding each layer of steel perfectly clean.
The handle is striped macassar ebony and hand sanded to 600 grit with a double superglue coat and sanded between and after coats. Bolster is made from the crown of an elk antler and has had all its pores filled and sanded to 600 grit. This does not come with a sheath and has not been sharpened yet. The blade is 9.25" long and 1.625" wide at the widest point as well as just over 1/8" thick on the spine. handle is 5.5" long with an overall length of 14.75". Blade hardness should be sitting right around 58-59RC with its 400° temper. Price is $250 shipped anywhere in the USA. Thank you guys
