Damascus steel

I am new to making damascus and am wondering what people prefered for making it? I have heard 15n20 and 1080-1095 is good. What elce would work well? I there is a list or other thread could you tell me or give me a link. Thanks..

If you're just starting out, I'd recommend 1080/1084 and 15n20. Limit your variables at the outset and you will meet with more success. Call Kelly Cupples for steel. His price list and contact info is here
