I check the Buck site every day for Damascus availabilty, to no avail. I thought I read here a few weeks back that some of you were getting new Buck custom 110's with Damascus. If true, how did you do it. Was it because of club membership? I spoke to Buck customer service months ago (01/06), and at that time was told sometime in 02/06, and it has been dragging on now for months. Appreciate all your input. Thanks.

Buck found a few old blades.....they might be used up by now.
Call Sara Buck and she will let you know.

As of a week or so ago, they had about 30 teardrop stainless 110 blades left from a short run.

They were not updating the website since it is a short run.

You have to call 'em. Tell them "Goose" told you...you might get charged extra ;)

Thanks for the feedback! Evil Eye, so when you mentioned they had found some old stock, was that the stuff from 1989? Kinda like the original Carroll Shelby frames that were found stashed away in some barn, and fetched millions!!! LOL Thanks again!

No Panmann...Straight from the Buck's mouth, or fingers, Sarah told me this is a new run of some steel. What they are doing with the rest is a question I didn't ask.
They had 50 100 blades when I first heard and were down to about 30 last time I heard.
I am curious as they are stainless. I ordered a Sambar NS FWIW.

you know goose, it is peopple like US here that keep that
"all customer service agents are currently bussy,
please stay on the line and the next avabile repsentive will take your call" being played over and over...
in fact last time i called they had jest got off the phone with a forum member checking on something and so
there is the reason why YOU could not get through one time... as i am always calling... :D  ;)

LOL Dave...I think you are right. I'm gonna wait until I get my 110 Damascus in my mitts before I start bugging them for that bEagle Scout or 110 Asian Water Buff (I really wanted a BG-42 on that one though :()

Amber from Buck called my house twice on Monday. Luckily it was Columbus Day, so I was home from work. I have knives in for sharpening and blade up-grades. She told me there was no 154CPM available yet, so I told her the ATS34 was fine. Then she called back about another knife, and I asked her to switch the ATS34 to Damascus, if possible. So, I'm hoping BG42 and Damascus show up in next couple of weeks. I'll be happy with whatever shows up. It will be extra cool if it's the "teardrop stainless" Goose mentioned, as most damascus isn't stainless.

Yep Scott..."stainless" is what SB told me. Never heard of that used for Damascus.
Did Amber imply or state they still have BG-42?

Tell me about your avatar? Cool dog. I like Bagels. Got one myself...Sydney.
She is my "Wilson" as I work from home and she has been with me 7x24 since I started the home gig about two years ago. She freaks when I do a beer run on the scoot. I do take her in the cage to Burger King for a cheesburger now and then. That's all I order, one cheeseburger at the drive through. Once the lady said, "you feed your dog our burgers but you don't eat one?". I said "yep".

You should have told her you only eat cats... :D

Goose, stainless damascus is difficult to make, and heat treat, but the results are awesome. Amber didn't say anything about the BG42, only they were working on my requests, and I didn't ask.
Sam is a ham. I've had Beagles all my life. I got Sam out of a litter with 2 lemon Beagles in Romney,West Va. He's 6 and my other one is 12 or 13. My favorite of the 3 had cancer and we put her down Christmas before last. They were hunting stock, but the Mrs. ruined them, made'm pets. Still trail a hotdog or hamburger, no problem:rolleyes: .

Sounds like a common problem with beagles :D
Moms and wives think they are too cute to hunt.
We had 2 only one left also :(
They are great dogs. Awesome for rabbits!

Thanks Scott...I figured it must be good given they up'd the price by $29 ($70 compared to $41). Can't wait to see mine.
Really want a BG-42 for a EDC. I got the walnut BG-42 NS from ZZJake but I can't bring myself to cut anything with it. Maybe, maybe, if they run out of BG-42 I will see about getting a Hawaiian Koa Damascus. I like NS, but think looks wise, the brass may be better with the Koa (OPINIONS or pics PLEASE).
I'm still hung up on the pins or no pins. So many choices. So few bucks for Bucks.

Cool story about beagle Sam. Cute pic. My beagle is a true friend. But she knows I'm the boss, usually...she hardly listens to anyone else though...especially the Mrs (spoiled her as a pup). She is one FAT dog...Sydney, not my wife. IIRC the vet said she weighed like 40 lbs and needed to lose about 10. I have the same problem, need to lose about 10-20...so what the hell.

Yeah Jim, I've had diff dogs and the beagle is great. We take ours camping and let her have the run of the place...she'll go chase cows or whatever and come back at dusk. Problem was when she figured out how to nose the zipper closure in the tent to escape. Smart ass dogs.

Hey, this is weird, my wife today said I could get another dog and this time I decided on a Beagle, and then I log in here to check up on the posts, and what do I read...discussions on Beagles....spooky! Always had female Labs, living here in LA by the beach, I used to take my labs to the ocean all the time, tossing the ball into the water, watching her retrieve...I'm getting misty eyed now. Do Beagles typically go into the water like a lab? Anyway, Spoke with Buck (Amber), and I tried to email her today, but it didn't go through. I have AmberD@BuckKnives.com. Can someone confirm her email. I wanted to send her a message tonight. Thanks Everyone!

Can't speak to the Amber e-mail, but I've only had this one beagle and she thinks she a fish.

Wow! Talk about thread drift...I've had three beagles, each one with its own unique personality. When I lived in California, my dogs definitely did NOT like the water at the beach. When I walked them near the incoming waves, they would pull away from the water as much as they could on their leashes. However, when hiking in the mountains, like Big Bear Lake for example, the minor ripples of the fresh water didn't seem to put them off as much.

Now we're in Maine, and our current beagle, who always hated peeing in the rain, has had to get used to it. Snow she doesn't mind at all, but the cold Maine rain took some adjustment.

As for their appetites, there's an old story about a dog food manufacturer who never used beagles to test new flavors, because they'll eat anything!!

And as for the original topic, I had two knives swapped to damascus back in '03--an FG 110, and a 560. Both are magnificent cutters, and I'm sorry the material is so hard to come by nowadays.

P.S.--Buckaholic, what happened to that goddess you had for an avatar? I'm hoping she'll show up in my backyard for some sunbathing.

Hmmmm...Avatar...Dave...West Virginia....
Why does a dude in overalls sitting on a porch rail playing a banjo come to mind?

Tizwin...I changed that avatar cuz I didn't want you guys to get bored with her.

Back to thread...I was wondering why more knives are not in Damascus. I am thinking it's a supply and demand gig as well as the hassle of manufacturing. Also, I have read more posts about people really not liking it as a EDC than I have read about people liking it as an EDC. Rust, delamination, soft steel, etc.
The short Buck run on the current lot is supposed to be stainless and I plan to try it as an EDC. So we'll see.

or how about a fat dude in florida on the beach under a tiki hut looking at the beach seen at dationa during spring break... yea get me in troub with wife that would...

damascuss is supose to be one hell of a great user and sharp!!!!! i hope to have some real soon... and i have one i feel i may send back for a dm blade change ... how much was it?

I ordered a 110 Damascus, Sambar, NS, with pins for $178.
The blade upgrade was $70 of that total.
Originally, I asked for engraving but backed off on that but had already sent the check.
