Damask green fighter. New photo

Fantastic knife! I especially like the guard shape. I wonder what it might have looked with darker cold blue steel or even a patina-ed bronze.

I've been wanting to do some camouflaged hunter knife pairs with green handles and sheaths. (Maybe that's why I'm imaging a darker guard and pin metal.) Your handle wood treatment comes close to what I've imagined. None of the stuff I've sourced so far is worth a damn.

I love the overall blade shape, the damascus pattern and the elegant lines of this piece. Your handle ergonomics have always been first rate, and I expect this one would feel just terrific in hand.

If you'll forgive me for channelling my inner STeven, the green handle literally hurts my eyes. I'm just not generally a fan of wood dyed to unnatural shades - and this neon green is way too 'out there' for me.

That said, the overall design is a winner - I'd be grateful if you could drop me an e-mail or pm with pricing information on a similar piece with wood that looks like wood. ;)

Roger

I love everything about it EXCEPT the color of the handle. Obviously opinions vary about dyed wood, and I don't mind if wood is dyed or stained to enhance the color, I just don't like when it is dyed an unnatural color.

That being said, the damascus, guard, profile of the handle and blade ALL look GREAT.

I have never liked dyed wood handles and don't know that I have seen one I liked any less.
Otherwise, I love everything about it. Especially the guard and Damascus.

I know you like some bright coloured wood Lorien, so it doesn't surprise me that this one is yours. Do you have it yet? If not, give us your impressions when you do.

oh, it will be quite some time. But I certainly will!

Kevin, thanks :)

I spent two days discussing with my brother about the handle. We tried putting the end of the blade and defense and tried to match them with 5 different coloured woods. Since Mark showed me the green woods I wanted to make a knife with it and could not resist the temptation and see the probable final result. I like exploring different textures and colours to see the new outcome.
Thanks for letting me know what you think about it. It is very important for me to know your opinions.
I hope that Lorien, the new tutor, enjoy it as I do, and lets see what he thinks about it when he has in his hands ..
My regards,
Claudio

Wow - my thoughts exactly!

I DO like the shape of the handle.

But I am a really, really bad one to ask about this. Wood is a really bad fetish for me. I love the look of all kinds of wood and I actually get sad sometimes when I see painted wood - especially if it is good wood. I can see dying or painted cheap pine wood, but almost any other wood . . . it pains me. Like I said, it is a bad fetish.

it's all good, man. Everyone has their preferences and it's ok to speak of them, especially here

just took delivery of this fine blade, and I'm happy to report that I'm very pleased.
Claudio went above and beyond in facilitating my purchase- if this were a normal transaction, well, it wouldn't have happened. I'm so glad that it did, I love this knife!

I had no idea this one was going to you

Great snag

I am waiting for mine

me neither! But I'm glad it did.

Despite it's hulking +7mm thickness, it's just a c hair over 15oz and the balance point is just shy of an 1" forward of the guard.

That handle is amazingly comfortable.

Claudio left enough meat above the edge that I don't have much to worry about when cleaving through the jungle. Which I cannot wait to do!

Thanks Claudio! I wish I had a better camera to do this knife justice, but the wife's got the 'better' one and she's gone for a couple of days. Glad I got this knife to keep me company :)
