damn it.

Putting lipstick on a pig may improve the looks, but it will still be a pig.

Take it apart and fix it right.

Photos woulld help, as some call the 1/4" a gap and others call .001" a gap.

I hate to say it and you hate to hear it.. don't fill it, redo it. I did it once and hated it forever.

Same here.. I threw it in a drawer and a year or so later I pulled it out and can't believe I bothered. I was just lazy and didn't want to start over, but I will eventually, and it was a learning experience. Incidentally the zebra wood handle cracked almost in half on one side.. no idea why yet.

I actually have a small kitchen chopper/slicer that I recently glued some scales on. Like you, I was in a hurry, and didn't realize that I had miscalculated the length of the scales, and now they are both a little more than a 1/4 longer than I want them to be on the ricasso side. I thought about trying to work with it, but I'm just not happy with how it's going to finish up.
I look at it this way though... when I go to knock the scales off, at least I'll see how strong my epoxy is actually bonding my scales to the blade.

I've had to throw out mammoth ivory scales more than once because of gaps there or somewhere else. It sure does hurt ! Frank
