  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Damn

Sorry to hear about this event. I hope that the firearms are recovered post haste.

Might be time to invest in a good gun safe.

Best,

- Mike

lol sad thing is I have a nice 365lb Browning theft guard, but when I moved into this smaller apartment there just wasn't enough room. Ironic as it is I moved to this part of town to get out of the "hood" and now I get broken into...

Sorry to hear this but am glad you and your fiance are safe. Hope they find the loser/s!

Just goes to show you the area isn't always an indicator of what will happen to you. It really sucks what happened to you, but I am glad you are and your wife are fine. Hopefully everything will be recovered and the people who broke into your apartment caught.

Maybe it's better that you didn't hear them. I don't think I'd want to confront some crack head holding my AR in my underwear.
I hope you get your gear back soon.

Sorry about that. May even be someone you know. Get a dog. Even if it is a small one, it's an alarm.

Sorry for your bad luck.
I sure hope that the bad guys get what they deserve and that you get your stuff back.

Ive been sleeping with my bedroom door open lately for the reason that I wouldnt hear anything if the door was closed and my AC and fans were on. My dog also helps out because she barks at anything going on right outside my front door.
Hope you get your stuff back soon

Damn, sorry to hear about that. I hope they are caught in a timely manner and at least get your guns returned.

As much as small dogs are a PITA, they tend to be great for home alarms as they yap at anything that passes by :o Unless you had a gun in your bedroom, I would have to say that perhaps in this case it was a good thing you didn't wake up during the middle of it all. I'm glad to hear that neither of you were harmed, that is always #1, you can always get the other stuff back in time.

Take care, J.

ps. if they use your credit cards for gas or anything (most common charge as no id is required) ask your CC companies for a record of recent charges and they will work along with your local PD to help find the perps. Perhaps a camera at a gas station to get license plates down or something to that affect could help out.

Dogs are so worth the time and investment, if you have a homeowner there is no reason not to have a dog-even a small one. They are a constant security system whether you are home or away.

all I can say is this sucks. I hope you have renter's insurance. I've never been burglarized myself but I had to learn the hard way that renter's insurance is worth it's cost many many times over. I lived in an apartment for a while ( with no renter's insurance) and the person two floors above me went out of town and (while they were gone) the water line on their washer busted. It flooded 3 apartments including mine. I lost all my furniture and an oriental rug that was handed down from my grandparents through my uncle, and couldn't live in the apartment for over a month. If I had had insurance I wouldn't have had to bear the cost myself and I probably could have had the furniture and rug cleaned instead of losing them. Anyway, the point is even though it won't make you feel better, if you have renter's insurance then turn it in. You won't get over being robbed but at least you can get replacements.

damn bud that sucks... i am glad you and your better half are safe and sound. you can always replace guns and shit. best of luck to ya!

I love WV, but it has gotten really bad with drugs over the past few years, at least eastern WV. Check pawn shops, you'd think that when they saw your duty belt, they would know they were messing with the 5-0 (you're and officer right?). Anyway, good luck, keep an eye on those pawn shops.

Huntington has a terrible crime problem.

When I was a kid it used to be a really happening city, and it still is to a degree thanks to Marshall University, but with the erosion of the manufacturing base in the city there's a really ghetto underworld element to the whole place.

The weird thing about Huntington is that seems like there's a lot of crackheads around still where the big drug problem in most of Southern WV is the diversion of legal prescription medication into the illegal market.

Silent Hunter,

Usually pawn shops run the serial numbers on guns so if HILLS put them in the database then the people would be busted. Most of the stolen guns I have read about being discovered around here are at flea markets and gun shows in WV and Southern Ohio. I've run into many out of state residents at WV gunshows selling their guns at tables bought by WV residents to cover them. A good way to fence stolen stuff IMO.
