I've come back and looked at it a few times a day since it was posted.

How does the checkering feel in the hands? Does it get irritating after prolonged usage?

This is more of a diamond shaped pattern than true checkering. I did this to improve the way the knife feels in your hand. It won't irritate your hand after prolonged use. It is more of a cosmetic thing than anything. Hope this answers your questions.
