Dan Burke Back Pocket

Very good looking knife by a very creative maker. Sweet snag Vince.

Dan does some great work...congrats to you both!

Beautiful knife. It would be nice if Queen picked this one up as one of their Dan Burke/Queen collaboration models.

Absolutely beautiful knife Vince. I love Dan's treatment of the clip blade, it almost looks Turkish-like clip. That, combined with the two swedges, makes one very sexy looking blade. Use it well. I carry and use, my DB-Queen collab in 12C27 regularly.

Jay,
That's Dan's exact description as well "Turkish like" clip.

Thanks for all the great comments on this knife.I'm hoping to have another pattern ,"shadow" style built by Dan.

That's a beautiful knife. Dan is a superb knifemaker, and a great guy. I will have to contact him about this steel and how it compares to BG-42, and why he made the switch. It'll be interesting to hear his take on it.

I only have one DB knife and have never really used it. Got it in a trade from Charlie a couple years ago. Seeing this thread makes me want to change that and think I will toss it in the pocket tomorrow. It's off-center and rubs the liners so may send it back to Dan (or give it to him at Blade) and see if he can straighten it out. Glad you posted this and now I have incentive to switch things up tomorrow.

This one has some great maroon micarta...want to get a better picture to capture it.

This shadow pattern was made for Winston Oakes several years ago. The blade is D2 and of course the handle is black micarda. Winston and his wife are great people that set up behind me at the blade show. Later he sold all his knives to Bob, and i assume that's where you got this knife. If I can be of any help in the future please contact me at dansknives@eastlink.ca.

Thanks
Dan

Beautiful knife Vince. Thanks for sharing some pictures. Mr. Burke certainly has an eye for beautiful lines and proportions in knives.

Thanks all for the great comments

I have been admiring this knife ever since she touched down here. I can definitely feel the razor blade steel in the mix, with a strop, this knife gets screamin' sharp.

Campbell, thank's for posting that Maroon micarta knife. It promped Dan to go on a hunt in his materials stash.Turns out he found a piece large enough for another knife!
So be on the lookout
-Vince :)

She's a looker Vince! Congrats! :thumbup::thumbup:

looks like a nice blade. Looks like it was sharpened on a grinder cause the bladeline isnt even and also the marking saying D.Burke isnt level other than that i amagine its a good piece of steel

Dan, thanks for the reply. Very good to know. The micarta seems maroon to me. I am at Tony's table a lot (checking for folks trying to sneak in some extra cards in his drawing ;) ) and I'll bring the knife with me this year. I got it from Charlie C (Waynorth) and really like it....fits great in the hand.
