What makes this a Chute knife, not a Hunter or Fighter ?
and what is the purpose of holes in the guard ?
thank you, roland

rprocter, I got from Julie at Arizona Custom Knives. She called it a Chute Knife so I did too. Couldn't offer anything more than a guess about the holes in the guard so your guess is as good as mine. :D

chute is that blade design, the holes are incase you need to lash the knife to a stick to make a spear.;)

Chute is the design. It has a double edge so that you can quickly cut yourself down from a hung-up parachute - hence the name "Chute Knife". It's for paratroopers. Many of the first chute knives made had double guards with holes in them so it has become kind of a tradition among knive makers to put in the holes. The holes can be used to lash onto things. Normally chute knives are a bit smaller from 4 to 5 inches to be easier to use while dropping down in a parachute. Hope this helps. Cheers. Great knife, by the way.
