Dan Pfanenstiel & Mike Quesenberry forging wakizashi's

I did add some sori in the forging, thought we were quenching in Parks 50. Turned out that Mike doesn't have a long quench tank all ready for swords  so we went with water to keep it simple. I did straighten it somewhat but with the overheating, lots of sori.

Thanks guys for the encouragement, means a lot. Some of you may not know, but i was in the hospital this time last year, wondering a lot about my future. This is some of my rehab.

i love the "game face" you have before you do the quench then the big smile afterward that's great! im glad i could help you out with the youtube thing

Great thread... fun stuff! inspiration for me to get back to work on the one I started forging months ago. Not sure I will have the cahones to quench in water though!!!

Cool pics. The thought of quenching in water makes my hair start to fall out. :D

I looked at the title and went "ok, why are they posting about forging kiridashis?" I looked at the thread and was thinking about how stupid you people were becuase of course, those were not kiridashis. then I looked at the title again and facepalmed. I need to learn to read.

looks fun. I hope they turn out.

Looks like you guys had a great time!

It was god to meet you both at the ABS Hammer-in this Oct.

Looking forward to seeing more from you both.

-DON:)

Great video/pictures I like the smiles post quench. I still get a smile when a 10" blade comes out of the quench in good shape, I can only imagine a sword.
