Dang, I may need a bigger pack. Or a better sleep system.

I also been looking at the Kifaru X-ray and TAD Gear Fast Pack EDC.

One bad thing is the price......

Tactical Tailor has some good gear also

i got a Condor II back in Feb... loaded it up with all the gear, backup and otherwise that i'd want to take on a camping trip, but don't always want to keep finding, sorting, etc. holds a lot, and i MIGHT just be able to jump into the woods with it and live out of it for a few days, but that's not something i'm going to test cold. incremental interative testings :)

that said, it's not the hugest pack... though it was ... bigger? mmm. that's okay, as i also got a Becker Patrol Pack, and well, wow. that's HUGE. massive. hairy. pendulous. even bigger than my Mountainsmith packs. yar.

now i have to figure out how to run a pack again for camping. too used to tailgating and loading a vehicle and sorting from that :)

so, post's like the OPs are just inspirationally useful :)

also, Hennessey is the only way to go. unless you go with one of those other guys.

I had good experience with RUSH24 (definitely roomier than FalconII) but stuffing that HH maybe a problem. You might want to look at RUSH72, it is a little smaller then your Kelty but lot's on molle attachment options.

Grabbed some strapping and buckles at REI last night. Total cost: $3.80 plus tax.
Instead of snap buckles, I just used "Ladderloc" one-hand adjustment buckles.
That way, one end of the strapping is free, and I can easily remove it when I want to.
I also rigged up a couple of Web Dominators so I can keep things tidy.

My usual loadout. Comes in right at 28lbs, wet. That's my "Summer bag" on the bottom, it started life as a 30 degree bag, but has been compressed to a 50 degree bag over the last 15yrs.

If all you need is a thin sheet, A snuggie might work. I know it sounds funny but It seems like it would be great for a hammock. The local big lots had them pretty cheap so i picked one up with that thought in mind.

A snuggie is actually a pretty darn good idea. I'll need zebra or leopard, of course. To match my man hammocks.

there's a "sportsman's poncho" on the exchange - it looks like an improvement over the mil-surp blanket I'm familiar with.

My snuggie is grey which is way more manly than the blue. The jury is still out on whether or not my wife commandeers it.

Got me a new pack today (THE NORTH FACE OPTIMUS) So far I love this pack, Its general use will be hiking.
Its really lite and comfortable.

I carry a Fast Pack EDC everyday (I'd say I EDC it, but it sounds silly :D)
Pricey, but it kicks ass. The guys in the shop call it my parachute and ask if I'm going BASE jumping after work.

I have a Lafuma featherlight down sleeping bag. Full mummy, and I'm 6'2"..... good to 40 degrees and packs down to about the size of a fleece blanket. Roughly 7" x 3 1/2" Saves a lot of space.

in my opinion the molle express is a better value than the x-ray but the zulu beats them both. the 3 outside pockets is a very stealthy way of carrying knives while still having quick access. the pics make it look bigger than it really is. it's going to be my winter mountain biking pack - it'll take a winter jacket and pants (in case of injury, lost, etc) fine without bulging outward to snag on branches and stuff.

I just picked up a new pack also, a North Face Recon. My son has had one for skiing, hiking and school for about 10 years now and it is still going strong. The Optimus looks very similar to the Recon...from the pics anyhow.

I like the look of that falcon II, to bad you couldn't get the pad strapped to the top.

You know...this is one of the best ideas I've heard in a while. I'm going to try it, thanks for posting that.

Okay, I ordered the Travel Sack from REI and will give a report when I get it.
With the 20% off deal going right now (for members), I got it for under $40.
