I did a Buy it Now on one of the counterfeit Bucks coming from the sellers in Hong Kong yesterday. It's the same knife as the other one that I posted about but from a different seller.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...7&si=byMK761pUiKM5ve4OK6GpNNSA74%3D&viewitem=

I waited until this morning and then sent the seller this message:

"020lucky2018????

I have learned since purchasing this knife, that it is a counterfeit. I have information from Buck Knives Inc. here in the U.S.A that all the knives you are selling as Buck's are fakes and not made or authorized by Buck. Buck has some knives produced in China, but they say made in China on them and the knives you are selling are not and never have been real Buck knives.

I require that you immediately refund my payment or further steps will be taken by me to see that your fraudlent listings are removed and eBay sanctions are put against you.

A few minutes ago I got the following message from the seller along with a full refund from PayPal.

"Dear plumberdv,

friends
Very sorry!
Thank you for telling me this item actual situation
I immediately to end it
Indeed, I won't identify items of the actual situation
Supplier tell me: item is real and manufactured in China
Supplier deceive me
Please forgive
Now return your payment
thank you

The guy had other fakes that he had listed and now all the listings have been cancelled.

Do I believe that he didn't know they were fake? Who knows, but it shows that we can make a difference with a little effort.

Well he is a stand up seller i'd give him the benefit of the doubt,he replied to you, plus cancelled the transactions,he probably saw a goosd buyn and thought it was going to be a no brainer money maker. At least he respnded.

Hong Kong takes trademarks pretty seriously (unlike China), so I'm not surprised he took 'em down quickly. ;)

He could be, but he ignored the first two messages that I sent about the little knives in the last two listings. He didn't respond until I sent the message about the one I actually bought and paid for.

IMHO,he knows exactly what he's doing and he's also smart enough to know when to retreat. He just never figured he'd run across someone with the knowledge and guts to call him on it.Good job Dave it's a target rich envirment out there!:)

Yeah, theyre like stink bugs here in Pa, you kill one and 5 more show up.:thumbdn:

good job Plum

Yeah.....last time I looked, Hong Kong was part of China.

Also.......while a few sellers are vulnerable to this kind of harassment, the WORST of them are not at all vulnerable. They have a network of people with many seller IDs and they all work together--all that happens is they list the knives under another ID and they can play that game far longer than you can.

Just because you can't kill all the mosquitos doesn't mean you shouldn't try to kill every one you can. I'd rather TRY to do something about it than just sit around and bitch about it.

You could publish your episodic excursions into the counterfeit world as a graphic novel. Love it.

Like other superheroes, Superman and Batman for example, you need an appropriate moniker!

Ersatzman, Knockoffman, Fakeman, Copyman, Marqueman, Brandman, Buckman or, well, huh, Somethingman. We need and Ideaman here.

"A superhero is a type of stock character possessing "extraordinary or superhuman powers" and dedicated to protecting the public." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superhero

You fit this bill to a "T."

Now, about the costume... I know. Your biking gear could do nicely.

Be careful which name you pick, a few of those sound like adult film stars.:D

Hmmm, as long as the costume doesn't include tights! Folks would be too busy laughing at my legs to take me seriously!

I've got two more of the counterfeit sellers (who ignored the messages) in jeopardy as we speak. I just hope (;)) I don't get anymore of those Chinese curses put on me like I did last year. Man, that was scary. LOL.

Seriously though, I feel a little proactive vigilate work is called for since Buck can't take care of all these.

I know, I know. You can't get them all, but what if the cops and other law enforcement felt the same about the small time drug dealers or other criminals. If you can nail a few and make the eBay experience as miserable as possible for others, it just might make a difference.

I have joined you in this battle and have turned in 4 so far. I don't know if it does any good but at least I'm trying.

I would have just reported it to Ebay and Buck Knives instead of putting my money at risk.

Lots of counterfit Husqvarna/Stihl chainsaws that get reported and shut down. Couldn't imagine actually buying one of those, knowing it was counterfit, just to call out the seller.

That's fine for you if that's the way you feel. I've become frustrated with eBay's lack of response. My money is not at risk. I've not lost a dime on any of these deals.;)
