Dang Opinel....whatta pickle!

Lavan is such a character that I cannot tell when he is joking or not.

That boat looks freaking great, man! Good work.

That's why Opinel's suck. You can't carve a boat into a Dark Ops because it is too strong for it! Opinel is a knife you can *CUT* with other knives! What fooey is that!?!?

Gave these as Groomsmen's gifts last August, with self-tied hangman's lanyards, and every last one is either being carried or kept in the owner's car. Had to get them out of Paris back then. Now, however, you can get them locally for a song and a dance.

Stainless blade is 12C27 Sandvik. This garden model takes on the most popular mods with its curved handle with lanyard hole. An occassional drop of food grade mineral oil on the pivot pin area weatherizes. Elegant.

Careful! You're treading on thin legal ground here. ;) ;) ;) Isn't that one of the Surefire claims? The fact that you can use the checkered handle on a Surefire to cut through a 'lesser' flashlight? (I thought I remember reading something like that back when I started collecting them, but my memory could be failing me.)

I got my #6 stainless a few days ago. It's a very nice knife and only $8.99. It does better at my Post-It slicing test than most of my more expensive knives. It reacts well to the Sharpmaker stones as well. I didn't do any sanding of the handle. I thought it looked great as is. I want to pick up a carbon Opinel next.

By "locally" I meant in the USA and not Europe.

Just received 2 Opinal #8 garden knives from Blade Matrix and they are perfect in all respects.

This evening I spent about 1/2 hour putting on a 15 degree edge, with mirror polish using the Edgepro, to complement the hangman's lanyard I installed. It will be given to my Nephew tonight. Perhaps I should include a bandaid. Razors got nothin on me.

All the best,

oregon
