Dang that Delica 4...

I got plenty good knives, yes, I believe most of us have. I just keep wondering how this Delica 4 with saber ground finds into my pocket so often. It bumps out my higher end Spyderco's and Bnechmade 940 off my pocket regularly.

It had excessive blade play which was fixed when I got repair kit. There's still minor but barely noticable and you have to use excessive force to make blade move so its rock solid in knife use.

The VG-10 is not perhaps most premium steels there is but my Delica 4's edge when stropped is sharp. I could whittle hair with its edge and it gave me cut when edge barely touched my finger when I installed repair kit parts.

I have custom knives, I have high end spyderco's, I got premium knives, yet Delica 4 finds regularly its way on pocket. Old saber ground Delica gets more pocket time than my FFG Delica for some reason.

I guess I found out why Delica is with Native and Endura those models which Spyderco keeps in list and regularly upgrades. Some many things are done right in Delica:

Its light, FRN is grippy, its afforable, its made good steel, has sturdy lock and its slim. It seems my love Affair with Delica 4 will continue even when I get higher end folders... I see if in future Delica 5 finally can bump my Delica 4 off regular rotation. Its either Delica 5 (when ever it might come) or Native 4 ...

I agree. I've been carrying some form of delica since the mid '90s. I now carry a D4 CE and it gets used pretty good. I like it so much I actually decided to sell 2/3 of my knife collection because the other knives just don't get used like my D4. Although I still have a salt-1 that I may break out and try to give my D4 a run for it's money....

I'm the same way. I have higher end folders from Spyderco and a couple of other companies but the Delica has been the only regular knife in my pocket since 1998. Just moved to the D4 this year. It just simply does everything I need a pocket knife to do in a light compact package.
It's also the most comfortable knife for my hand. I thought I was happy with the D3 but the D4 is even more comfortable.

Currently I'm carrying a D4 CE but I've bought every version I could find. You know, just in case. :D

As much as I love the Endura and Delica, they were at a disadvantage only because most (all) of my EDC's are higher end Spydercos. That's all.

That's why I'm glad Spyderco makes so many different styles. We all have our favorites because we're all different.
I have a Caly3, Sage1, Military, Manix2, and a few others but the Delica keeps finding it's way into my pocket. I even have the G10 version but the FRN Delica is what I grab when I get ready to leave.

Hooray for variety.

Been using mine for a few months daily now. It is so lightweight, I really love it. Although mine is a ffg, not a saber... either way they are great.

Mine have survived some pretty hard use. Although they aren't EDC blades, our ZDP D4s are the ones we grab for dirty, tough work. My wife's has packed and moved 4 libraries and reopened them in new buildings and mine has been used in a warehouse and in the woods and camping. I've kept my VG10 and ZDP D4s around because they are so useful.

I just picked up a Delica 4 with wave opening the other day, really impressed with the way it opens. Now I am really regretting buying the 943, should have bought more Spydercos.

I agree, sometimes I want to carry something fancy, think about what kind of work I'm doing that day and grab the Delica 4. Something about the toughness of the FRN, the minimal weight, the suprisingly useful blade shape and the low cost to replace the knife make it always have a place in the top 5 EDC's for me (actually top 3)

That being said. My EDC Endura is foliage green with a black painted clip. (Had a black painted clip).

Why do knife manufacturers bother with black painted clips? Use the knife for one day of work or better yet just carry it clipped to your pocket for a few days and the clip looks like shit.

And polishing clips is bothersome.

I didnt even know they made a flat grind version of the delica until today. I was browsing 'round ebay, and noticed these ffg's... before I knew it I had already hit the "buy it now" -button  I really didint plan to buy yet another knife, but these Spydies just... Dang.

Now Im facing yet anothet two weeks of agony and waiting while the package is being shipped from US to FIN...

Waiting is definitely the hardest part... you'll love the knife though.

Where did you get that clip for the Delica 4 ffg?

STR on this forum makes them, well worth it.

I like the painted black clips. It gives me a visual indication that I have beaten the hell out of my knife and gotten my money's worth.:D

The three knives that get carried the most are my Carbon fiber Delica, Purple FFG Delica, and my Harpy.

In that order.

Hey btw, does anyone know whats the blade angle on these FFG's? Can I sharpen it with a Lansky Standard (25°-30°?)?

I chose the purple also... Nice that Spyderco offers these in bright colors  Camo and foliage green are cool and all, but for civilian EDC use I cant see any downsides for carrying a knife with a bright easy-to-spot color.
