I'm pretty sure this wasn't posted, since I keep an eye on this forum. However if it was, I apologize. I was browsing the Kershaw site again, saw this article: http://www.tactical-life.com/online/tactical-knives/black-gun-blade/

Nice little piece, I never saw that variation of the Shallot. The article itself gets a bit cheesy with "Kershaw jumped at the opportunity and promptly assigned their engineers and their star designer, renowned custom knifemaker Ken Onion, the task of developing a distinctive knife to meet Daniel Defense’s needs. Daniel Defense worked closely with Kershaw’s design team and methodically developed a folding knife that met or exceeded all their performance criteria."

Still cool though, and that's a pretty sleek blade shape.

There was the DD (black on black) and the Ambush arms (D.S. handle dlc blade). Both have C.E. edges, I would say for "Tactical" reasons!
Dave sent me a DD when I ordered before Christmas, It is a pretty cool knife to fondle. I haven't carried yet, but I do like those uglier looking knives myself, I just have a thing for them! Cool article thanks for posting it up Stick!

There is a pic of the prototype floating around. Plain edge with satin blade. I hope we will see them in a PE version some day as a regular release.

If this was Plain Edge I would pick one up. I love the blade shape on it. The shallot is a sweet knife itself, but that wharncliffe blade is just gorgeous. I'm a wharnicliffe lover though.

The serrations talked me out of buying one also. It may just be me but it looks like had it been plain edge it wouldnt have had the recurve.

You'd think since Daniel Defense is a higher end AR15 manufacturer that they would have gone with Kershaw's higher end ZT line. I don't think of the Shallot as a "tactical" blade at all. The serrations just ruin it for me.

when a knife is an active part of your personal and (especially) professional life, you really know the value of the combo bladed folder that so many here dismiss. there is a reason that the DD Shallot has those serrations.

if i have a choice of versions, i usually opt for the combo edge.
