Thanks much, love the technical stuff! What hardness level are you aiming for? Sounds tough whatever it is like your 521000 Kiridashi, It's a beast by the way, kudos.

Same here, I spend most of my evenings reading heat treat charts and doing CAD, lol!

Here's some information from the manufacturer, I always use this particular D2. http://www.bucorp.com/files/aisi_d2.pdf

My heat treat should be hitting around 61 RC with D2 and possibly 62 with the CPM-D2. This is based off my soak temperature, time, quench method and the fact that I am using the dry ice slurry to help with conversion. I try not to speculate too much on RC so I do a fair bit of testing to validate my heat treat. I will eventually purchase a Rockwell tester.
