The only reason I am selling this, is to finance something I came across that I really like, what else is new...
in any case, someone is going to get a steal on this one.
This is the sweetest Winkler neck knife I have seen. 3" blade of random pattern damascus forged of course by Winkler. Bolsters are a loose ladder pattern, there is a VERY cool, forged curl which serves as a guard, this knife is THICK, I'd say maybe 1/4" thick, and, the entire spine and blade top is heavily fileworked.
The handle is what really brings the knife alive and makes it special. This is some of the most gorgeous fossil ivory ever, though the pics don't show it well, there are reddish sections, caramel, and some very distinct blue-green, all with a flawless, liquid-like finish, about the nicest ivory you'll ever see.
The neck sheath is a work of art in and of itself. Everybody knows Daniel's knives often come with a sheath by Karen Shook, this one is particularly complex and fancy, with beads, antiqued steel cones and a polished fossil ivory large "pendant" hanging from the middle, the knife fits into the sheath like a glove. You have to see and feel the sheath in person to really appreciate it, same goes for the knife, it's a little bigger than many of his neck knives, and fits even my large hands very nicely. If you had the guts to use something this nice, it would no doubt make a hell of a user.
Needless to say, the knife is mint, the workmanship impeccable, though of course he gives everything that aged, patinated look.
This knife and sheath combo from Daniel would run just under $1,000, any dealer would price it at $995. It's as fancy and complex a neck knife as Daniel makes, top of the line for this model, as is the sheath.
I need the cash quickly, and, if the knife I want to buy with the proceeds from this sale gets sold before this does, I may very well withdraw it, so, if you like it, you need to not hesitate on it. But, to get a quick sale, a fair price would be $825 shipped, but, I'm going to dump it for $695 shipped, insured, 2-day. $300 off what it would cost from Daniel, plus, no 1 year wait either. If it doesn't sell at this price, I won't be too upset, but, often, I am very weak when I see something new, and get a bit dumb and sell stuff I probably shouldn't, I think this is one of those moments.
The pics I took of it are decent, but, it is more impressive in person, it was hard to really capture how colorful the ivory is, you'll be VERY pleased when you receive it.
PayPal OK with no fees, US postal MO is good too.
First to email me and say they'll take it, gets this wondeful example of a Winkler at a steal of a price. Thanks for looking.
