jc000,

The holes in the belt loop are not spaced to fit a Tec-Loc but will fit 2 Tactical Tailor Molle clips either vertically, horizontally or at either 45 degree angle. You will need to drill the Kydex loop to fit the Tec-Loc.

What handle material is on the knife you provide to the seals? Or what do they prefer?

Grip material will come down to personal choice.

They won't discuss specifics that could compromise OPSEC.

You should pick handles that suit what you're doing.

Here's a nice snapshot

What OPSEC could possibly be conpromised from discussing handle material? Seriously!

The reason you don't see SEALs posting in online forums much is because they have better things to do, generally.

I believe Mr Winkler has said in the past that Micarta and Rubber are the most popular. Micarta being more durable and rubber being more grippy, especially when wet. I'd guess for them the durability isn't much of a concern as they don't buy them with personal funds.

That said, why would it matter what they choose? Choose what best fits YOUR needs or what you like the most. Personally, I like the maple handles. They're plenty durable, and look much better to me.

Did you read the article at the link? The man stated he wasn't getting into specifics for that reason.

Getting too specific in “who” and “what”can be a really bad idea when there is a chance of compromising the very people that we should be protecting. On our web site and advertising you won’t see any specifics.

The easy thing to say is sure one little bit of info won't hurt anyone. The reality is there are bad actors trying to collect that information to use for their own ends.

Yes, I did. I'll say it again, the handle material of a knife will IN NO WAY compromise OPerational SECurity.

The article speaks of compromising people. That would PERSEC, or Personal Security. Besides that, it seems to be talking more about releasing who's getting the knives, not what the knives are.

In the end, once again, it doesn't really matter what SEALs or anyone else is using. If you really want to know, join the Navy and get through BUDS. Otherwise just get what works for you.

What is OPSEC? OPSEC stands for operational security. Intelligence collection and analysis is very much like assembling a picture puzzle. Intelligence collectors are fully aware of the importance of obtaining small bits of information, or “pieces” of a puzzle, from many sources and assembling them to form the overall picture.

What is PERSEC? PERSEC stands for personal security. Service members and military family should be careful to not post personal information anywhere on the internet, especially an address, phone number, workplace, etc.

I'm glad we took the time to have this little talk.

I am on your side about the wood though!

Well if one organization all has blue knife handles and everyone else has red when you see a group of guys with knives that have blue handles you make a tick in that box, then you take a few more pictures and tick a few more boxes and you build a profile.

And there are people doing that.

If it's issued gear that's used operationally then it's up to that particular unit to make the call if they want to advertise.

Unfortunately for your strawman, no military unit that I'm aware of issues blue OR red handled knives.

As an enemy, would you want to get close enough to a US Special Operations team (of any variety) to tell the difference between black micarta or horse stall mat handles?

It's been said on here before that the most popular WKII knife is the Belt knife with micarta or rubber handles. I don't remember where the post is or how to find it. Rubber is more grippy, micarta more durable. Pick one based on your needs and you'll be happy.

I love my belt knife with a
