Danny, are you in Japan? Yes i'm talkin about the Tsunami!

Sorry I'm too late for this thread...

Danny, is there anyway I can send support to the people in Japan? The only way I have here is Paypal transfer. I read newspaper everyday and our family want to share with them the hardships ...

Here the Government is collecting support, too, but experience shows that the amount is "pecked" along the way it reaches Japan. We would like the sharing to reach the people in full...

Smoke and prayers for people in Japan.

Hung

Not that I know of, unless paypal can transfer food and water. The international aid is there, sitting and waiting for the Japanese authorities to move it up north. They are not moving it very quickly. (We are hands-off, so things are not going too well)
Just burn some incense for now.

...Danny, is there anyway I can send support to the people in Japan? ...

I received the following information from an old college classmate presently residing in Tokyo. Formatting is a bit hosed but you can still pick out the information.

For initial relief, there are a number of options. One is to focus on small, dedicated organizations. I would choose NGOs with active chapters in Japan, rather than international organizations without a local presence who would have to send teams. The one I mentioned above, Peace Winds Japan, would be a good alternative.............. ................... http://www.peace-winds.org/en/index.html ................................................................................................ ................... alternatively, you can donate through their sister organization in the US.......................................................... ................... http://peacewindsamerica.org/support/ ..................................................................................................... ................... or Doctors Without Borders/MSF Japan http://www.msf.or.jp/ ...................................................................... ................... http://www.doctorswithoutborders.org/donate/overview.cfm ........................................................................

However, a disaster this big also requires support from large organizations. The two majors in Japan are the Japanese Red Cross, and Central and Local Community Chests of Japan. The newspapers, TV stations, and radio are taking donations for the benefit of these two majors. The Japanese Red Cross Society is already sending medical teams to the north........................................................................................................................ ..................... http://www.jrc.or.jp/english/relief/l4/Vcms4_00002070.html ........................................................................ .....................
