Danny for President

Danny...I had to wonder about your comment:

"I do know that the wars of the last 100 years all started in other f***ing countries over other f***ing peoples' problems with each other and yet, Americans died to finish it."

I'm sure the Kaiser was a swell guy and just wanted better access to crumets and tea...

Gosh...maybe we should have let Hitler take total control of Europe. I wonder why he would have stopped? The continent? All of Asia? The hemisphere? Certainly he would have had no interest in Texas if he controlled the rest of the world, eh?

Perhaps genocide isn't such a bad thing the way the Japanese practiced it in China.

I'll even assume for the sake of your ideas that the sneak attack on Pearl Harbor wasn't an act of cowardace, but just the Japanese version of saying "Howdy!"

Perhaps the Soviet Union would have been a great place to live once Nebraska was a part of it.

It could be that South Koreans really *did* want those snappy uniforms of China as recreational wear.

Maybe theocracies slaughtering folks of the wrong religions is the best practice after all.

Nevermind...I guess that according to your definition, "IF you disagree with that, then you might not be an American."

I proudly stand as "not an American".

Nasty,
You know me better than that. How could think I would believe those things you said?
It hurts me to think that suddenly you would believe those things about me.
You know that I dont believe that stuff.

I guess I should explain the theory.
The theory goes like this: We dont waste American men fighting a long, slow "hearts and minds" police action that takes ten years and maybe achives a truce like Vietnam and Korea.

What I mean is, when someone flies two planes into NY buildings, we dont send American MEN to Afghanistan. We turn it into a shiny sheet of radioactive glass.

I have to believe that all that was just a misunderstanding and a knee-jerk reaction.

You know I dont agree with those sarchastic, crazy comments.

You also know that WW1, WW2, Korea and Vietnam started over racism and hatred between people we dont even know.
Those same people STILL HATE EACH OTHER AND NOTHING WILL EVER CHANGE THAT.
But still American men died to stop them from fighting.

So, my philosophy is this:
If America must become involved in another war on the other side of the planet, we send our IBMs, then cruise missiles then air-dropped ordnance and then if we have to, living human American soldiers.

rotflmao :D :D :D

My daughters definition of North Platte Nebraska....the gateway to hell

Danny - American lives have been and will continue to be lost fighting for others. This is not going to change. Those given great gifts have great responsibities and the American fighting forces accept theirs with pride.

Please do not belittle the American lives lost doing what must be done, nor those supporting them by making such a wild statement as you did in your comments. Once written, they are forever.

I say this with Love and Respect for each of them, and for you as well.

Gin - I selected Nebraska because of the missile farms located there...it was a prime target area during the Cold War (capitalized intentionally).

Last I heard, Germany is in the European Union with France, and selling BMW's and Mercedes' in Israel, Japan is selling Sony's and Toshiba's in China, and I have a shirt made in Vietnam. I do believe, Danny, that things change, and that the US was the major change agent. Not perfect, but well intentioned. If you want to educate yourself about the Vietnam conflict, I suggest watching The Fog of War. Academy award for best documentary, it's a long interview with Robert MacNamara.
This is my last post to this thread.

Trade isnt love.
I dont know if you have done much world travel, but you might be amazed at how little things have changed.
Perhaps the political rhetoric has been toned down, but the feelings are the same.

I believe in change too, but I don't just accept what's on TV as being an accurate reflection of reality anymore.
Espcially when it comes to other countries.

I was riding the train the other day listening to a group of British and Australians talk about how brainwashed and illiterate Americans were.

No, they wouldnt say that on TV, but they were saying it, nonetheless.
What's that you say? British and Australians are our best allies and friends?
They would never walk around with such ugly ideas in their heads about us?

Thats the tip of the iceberg, and believe it or not, they ARE our friends.
If our friends all feel that way about us, you can only imagine how the unfriendly ones are, about us and each other.

That's the real beauty of it all Danny...they badmouth us, they profit off us, they take our young...

And still, on principle, when the world needs help, we provide it.

We (the American forces) don't do it for parades, religious zealotry, medals, or virgins in Heaven...we do it because we can and it's the right thing to do.

If you don't believe this...you might not be an American.

I do agree with it, but I dont believe any of our enemies even deserve the chance to engage in combat with our men and women.
The should be exterminated from a safe distance.

Nasty, the truth is, I am on your side but maybe even farther than you!

As my mother would say " there aint no ten Iraqis worth one American soldier."

Okay then Danny...kissy-kissy make-up all done.

Now go to the gym and beat the cra* out of the heavy bag pretending it's your choice of bad guys. Just remember to avoid hitting innocent bystanders and always set your Phazer to stun.
