I just want to take some time tonight to give a quick shout out to Dario of Darac Steel Custom Knives. I placed an order for a Degman in late 2017 after watching a Jim Skelton video and I just received it earlier today. I'm just impressed with the maker and with the overall experience. The man is one of the best makers I've ordered from. It's an insane blade with 4" of 3V and it feels perfectly built. Grinds are perfectly even, it's dead center, there isn't even a hint of blade play (no side-to-side when unlocked either), feels good in hand, and the blade drops shut under it's own weight. I just got it too, so it hasn't even broken in yet. Flips great as well. Almost feels like it was built to be opened with the Spydieflick. The hole in the blade is well placed and chamfered on the edges so it doesn't take off the top layer of your nail when you go to use it. With the flipper, it has about a medium detent but it's nice and reliable. The top of the flipper has some checkering that gives you that extra bit of grip on it, without being too sharp.
Communications with him were excellent. Some of this is obvious stuff but not every maker does it. He got back to all my emails (about 20+) in just a few hours. He double-checked with me about the specs when it was time to build to make sure everything was right. He gave me multiple update emails and work-in-progress photos. He even asked me about my opinion on the color of parts he was anodizing. He told me exactly when he was shipping it. Sent me a bunch of photos and a video of the finished knife. The shipping from Croatia only took 6 days. He kept an eye on the tracking and let me know when it was close. When I got it, he asks if everything's alright. It feels like he honestly and genuinely cares about the customer and about the knives he puts out. I asked for a few things that he hadn't done before and even made a last-minute change, and he was more than willing to accommodate.
Dario, you knocked this one out of the park and I couldn't be happier with it. This one is never leaving my collection.
