Just finished this one, I call her the "Dark Cloud Chopper", because the etch pattern reminds me of a dark thunder cloud.

10 5/8" blade of 1095
15 5/8" OAL
Handle is burl maple...slightly spalted...dyed minwax ebony, tung oil finish
Blade was normalized 3 times, edge quenched, twice tempered at 475 degrees for 2 hrs each time.

Brass pins & thong hole.

Gonna put this one up for sale in the fixed blade forum in a few weeks. My father-in-law will be making a sheath and adding a leather thong.

She'll be available/w sheath for $150.00 plus shipping.

Hope you like,

Bob Hershey,

PA

I'll post better pics when she's goes up for sale.

I appreciate the nice feedback guys. Salem, she's pretty darn effective. During testing of the blade, I took her through a 2" X 4" piece of quarter-sawed oak, twice. There was no visible edge deterioration and she still cut through 3/4" free hanging rope with ease. I followed a heat treat sequence as advised from Kevin Cashen, and am having good success with it. David, I am really into big choppers right now, don't now why, but I'm having fun. Got 22' of 1/4" x 1 3/4" 5160 from admiral ready to go.
