Here's one, I hate to say, I really hope I don't have to do again anytime soon. It's a copy of a vietnam vets combat knife. He told me he lost his overseas and could never find one just like it. So, he asked me to make him one. The blade is 5160, edge quenched(triple quench/temper) with the blade and guard "tool blacked". The handle is gaboon ebony and the pommel is polished nickle-silver. I'm not sure why the pommel is polished and the rest is black but, the customer wants a knife s certain way, the customer gets the knife that way, right?

J! Holy cow, that's great! That makes me feel really wicked... How'd you do that big cutout? The hard way with a Dremel? How'd you get it flat and smooth? C'mon, give!

Thanks guys. Dave, that groove was roughed out with a wheel and then finished with alot of sandpaper. My fingers are still killing me. You know I have to do everything the hard way. That was the part of the knife I disliked, the rest was a pleasure to do.

Nice work! I can understand where your coming from, but that's what makes this a "custom" knife!:D

Outstanding J!
When I first saw the pic I thought you were going to say a customer asked you to rebuild a knife for him.
Your knife looks like it came right out of the past, really amazing!

I think this is what exhibiting at a lot of shows does for your career. Seems to me like J has gone from being a little hesitant like me, to taking the bull and shaking it down. You just gotta love that. Way to go J! :D This knife really does it for me man. But I won't make you do another one right away (it's Christmas, I'm broke, and can't be buying myself anything else for a while anyway). You're in luck. For now... :D

Above is the resubmitted photo for this knife, with the sheath Tess made. Gunmetal black hardware and a molded stone pouch with strop.

Thought you'd like to see the end result.:D
