Kabar and ESEE make some really good one's.

I personally like the BK9 with a sharpened upper swedge when dealing with insurgents. ;)

Here's a BK9

It's not that I don't like tops it's just I want to try a company I haven't bought from yet

Try Bill Siegle, he makes excellent tactical fixed bladed knives in an endless variety of flavors. Mostly 5160, with sturdy kydex sheaths, and the most sturdy and comfortable handles you can ask for.

n2s

Somebody should create a brand of tactical knives geared towards women. All weapons disguised as makeup containers and applicators, etc. Call it "Rouge Warrior"

You forgot Mantis Knives. :o :p :D

Your right, they are another one you should definitely stay away from.

I would rather have an ugly knife that works great, then a knife that looks awesome but doesn't work worth a damn.

So yes for me it's always been function over form.

Edited to add: kinda like the Becker line of knives. They aren't the prettiest knives to look at, but boy to they ever get the job done.

Silent John,

I'm not quite sure what you need a people poking knife for unless you're an op. I'd strongly recommend a gun if you need to deal with human threats. If you anticipate people poking and you're not an op... you may really want to think strongly about who, what, where, when and why, especially where, it might be time to move.

That being said you might try a good old fashioned Ka-Bar. Not mall ninja cool, but it will do the job. IMHO Cold Steel's urban dart ought to do an extremely good job of prodding folks of the mortal coil (though it may be shorter than what you want.) CRKT has the Hisatsu and I believe a new one called the Hissou. They were both designed to help mil, police, and SWAT type folks dispatch very bad people. As mentioned Mercworx has some serious blades, I can't recall if there were any very specific people pokers. Any traditional tanto or waki of good build is of its very nature designed to dispatch humans. Daggers are great and almost universally excluded by state laws. Research the qualities that make a good offensive weapon, then look at the available pool and choose.

God bless,
Adam

PS: If you go poking anyone you had better have some good reason. Oh, and a warning from mr. RYP, be careful a "better" man doesn't take your poker from you and poke you with it. Hand to hand (even with a knife) is a really bad deal.

I'm curious. What do you not like about Tops to not get another knife from them? As far as a good, basic 7-8" combat blade, try out the Entrek Force Recon or Merc. I have them both, really solid knives and made in the USA.

+1:thumbup: on the Merc. He should take a look at the Eagle or Falcon also. Ray makes some incredible knives for the money.
Be safe.

Thanks man

I guess I am just living my soldier boy fantasy

Tried to join the military and was rejected for health reasons never even recived a draft card in the mail made me feel like I was good for nothing , all through high school I wanted to be a marine sniper one of the most feared men on a battlefield

Here are 2 good strong knives that will move you into the big blade category and will do pretty-much anything you'll ever need from a big knife, even deanimate the occasional Tango.

Top is by Bill Siegle and bottom is by Jeremy Horton.
