Hey guys. I heard someone mention that micarta could actually get darker if you dip it in a certain type of dye. something about the micarta soaking up the dye, and i think we're talking canvas micarta. Is this true? I have some handles that i would like to darken, but i don't know if you can actually do this. could someone shed some light? thanks so much.

The resins in Micarta are light sensitive. Burgundy and dark green will sometimes turn
nearly black, and tan will look brown or rust colored.

To work, a dye would have to soften the resins for the color to penetrate, then
reharden to maintain durability. I can't say such a dye dosen't exist, but haven't heard of
one......would seem to make more sense to obtain the desired color of Micarta and
avoid the hassle of messing with dyes.....
