darkening up a damascus blade

i recenty obtained a small case coke bottle with damascus blades
looks like someone didnt know what they had and cleaned it with metal glow or something i dont no. what im trying to say is its to hard to see the designs in the metal. can this be darkned up??

dampen a towel with vinegar and wrap the blade in it, check every few hours until it looks dark enough, you may have to change the towels because after a while the vinegar wont dissolve any more metal
 
no problem, a lot of knife makers use ferric chloride, but i'm assuming the handle is already attached, so this should be a lot easier on it

Be sure to neutralize the acid afterward with some ammonia (Windex works), or dilute baking soda.
