i purchased one.... wanted an extrema ratio but it was too expensive. the sales person suggested a darkops, something about holder of american rights to extrema ratio. so i got it, unaware of their adverteisments and your angry critisism. i must admit the ads are silly but the knife works well (out preformed my sog seal) and the customer service is top notch. I removed the handle to clean it and i accidentally stripped the screw, i shot em an email and 4 days later the UPS guy was at my gate with a box with 3 sets of replacement screws for me. well tell me what yall think

That is excellent customer service, I can't seem to find a pic of your knife, and am curious to see what it looks like. Part of my tool selection process is manufacture warranty, and CS.

how do i go about posting a pic? i have a digi cam but im kinda new to this forum stuff.

Unless you buy a membership to bladeforums (pretty cheap), you will have to use a free web hosting site. Photobucket or Imageshack are frequently used. Sign up for one of those sites, load pic onto computer, follow that sites directions to load pic here. ;)

Welcome to Bladeforums! The really cool way to post pix is to become a member -- then you can upload your pix directly from your own hard drive to the Bladeforums servers. Click on "Upgrade your forums experience, and help support this site" at the top of any page for membership details.

You can also post pix by using another host on the web. There are several tutorials floating around the forums; you might have a look at http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=371650

Enjoy your knife! Yes, there is a lot of angry criticism of the ads, and the makers originality, but the knife itself seems to hold up functionally and seems appreciated by it's owners for that.

Of course, the snob appeal of trash talking Darkops may show up, but it's old news to a lot of us, and we'd like to hear your objective evaluation after you have had a chance to put it through a week or two. A model description will do for now until you get used to pics - some of us can just google that and get an idea of what you have. Saying you bought a Darkops is like saying you bought a Chevy - which model really makes a difference.

Throw in what you hoped the knife would do and if it can. We all have some expectations of performance that sometimes meet hard reality, and it's illuminating to others who may hold the same ideas that things might be different.

I took look at their website. For those price, there are a looooot of knives I'd pick before theirs.

i like the knife. the grip feels good the edge holds well, the tip is strong. the "splitter hilt" is completly usless for cutting stuff, but it makes a good pry so i like that, i hit the blade full force on a steel pipe tearing up a bathroom gettin it ready for remodeling and you can see what it did to the blade on the pic that has a close up of the serrations. the knife is dirty has grease and grime on it. the sheath is kinda bulky and the little pouch doesent hold much i couldent fit my sog power lock in it so im considering removing it from the sheath. wow sorry for the bad pic quality.

it out chops, holds an edge longer, stronger point, longer so it has more leverage when prying. pretty much everything

Not my cup 'o tea, legato1, but if it works for you, then that is the important part.

Rat is right, and thats where much of the anger comes from along with there advertising techniques.

Though I still would not mind a picture. And congrats on your new knife.

As far as I remember, and this was some time ago, the owner of Darkops was the distributor in the US for ER and then they had a falling out. After that, the owner of Dark Ops started his own brand up. I don't have any dark ops knives but have an ER Col Moschin which is fantastic. They are made in Italy and issued to Italian Spec Forces. As for Dark Ops, I have no idea what country they are made in. Does it say on the box at all?

For demo, that knife definitely fits the bill. A real zombie slayer :p

I personally don't like the fancy smanchy ad ons they have, but I can definately see the hook cutter being excellent for prying doesn't look sharp.
