darkops

the tang is just a little bit thiner than the handle but twords the end it tapers off into the glass breaker. i can agree with it having too many fancy add ons, i have never used the saw back for sawing i use it for heavy chopping and breaking instead of the blade, as for the splitter hilt if it was curved a little bit more outward then it would reach into more places and be an even more effective pry.

are those swamp rat knives any good? i hear alot aboutem but ive never looked into em. how much do they cost?

it out chops, holds an edge longer, stronger point, longer so it has more leverage when prying. pretty much everything
You have been reading into Dark Ops brochure to deeply.I dont see how it can outperform my Sog seal 2000. Well maybe at removing beer caps.

It's good to hear an honest, no bias review. I'm glad it works well for you. I'd feel a little silly using something with such an extreme look, personally. How long is the blade?

A lot of people swear by their Swamp Rats. They're really nice knives, the only reason I don't have one yet is that they usually run around $150 minimum.

I sincerely hope the reason their custom service is good is because they are bored silly because no one is buying any of their knives. :D

Legato1 I am glad somebody bought one...really I have always been tempted just to see what the heck they look like in person. Thats the first pic I have seen taken by a customer of there fixed blades. I say if you like it more power too ya.

As for Swamp Rats...buy one or buy a Scrapyard they are great knives. Sometimes there edges are a little thick so I tend to re-profile mine but they have really held up to some punishment. I de-animated a mini-keg with my bandicoot and its tip showed no ware while the edge did get dulled some. I have chopped/pryed/cut through decking and a air conditioner with my Scrapper 6 and it didnt have a dent in it. I did make it into a convex edge and took it to 1500 grit on the paper.

wow i coulda got a swamp rat and another knife for the price of my darkops. oh well it works well, it does look alittle extreme but thats ok. i went to the swamp rat website but theres no products or prices or anything like that.

im liking the way those scrapyard knives look. reminds me of a busse but cheaper, more my price range
