Darn Fake Jerrys

How many people got fooled by fake Jerry? I figured Amy was a fake but I must admit the first Jerry post got me. I just resent my message when I real Jerry posted. Hope thats ok. This was my first Ganza so far. Hope I get one.
 
The fakes are All Part of the fun, one day you will be laughing at the new guys that got fooled!!
 
I think you may be okay. Years ago, I got fooled by a Fake. REALLY sucked cause I was proxying for someone and was going for nothing for myself. He did get what he wanted and I think since you sent the email after the go, you should be okay. Fingers crossed :)
 
They just ignore the e-mails before the GO. You should be fine.

A Ganzaa is a limited run or limited order window to purchase various knives posted in the sticky at the top of the forum. They are limited in number so Jerry states a date and time frame in which he will post a GO thread. At that time, you email your order and hope you were quick enough to get the knife or knives you were wanting. It's a lot of fun, can be nerve wracking and is a great chance to order limited knives or customs.

The last Ganzaa was for the limited edition Nuclear Meltdown Fusion Steel Hearts or NMFSHLE. Tonight is for the CG or Combat Grade version of it as well as other knives. Currently, these are not set for production and may not be offered again, except for future ganzas.
 
You'll probably be okay Knight, I usually send in a 2-5 minute window, but have sent much later. So far I have gotten everything I asked for except for maybe some of the serial numbers I listed first for some of the LE stuff. In fact, anyone reading this that hasn't sent the email cause you think it's too late or got fooled once tonight, send it (again) anyway.

And complaining about the fake Jerrys will only get the old school people to tell you to quit crying or to enjoy all the "fun". I'm not old school by any means, just hit a year collecting Busses and I still don't see the humor in it. I laugh at some pretty stupid crap too, but this, not really. I am sure this comment will spark some followup comments from the Busse Heroes and Bacon Hog F5 Martyrs :)

Well thanks guys for all the feedback. Either way I am glad I tried. Hmm...but do yall think the fake Jerrys may be part of the real Jerry's idea to inspire a nice competition? :D

Jerry is fine with the fakes and Hogs are known for their trickery and NO REGRETS attitudes :D That doesn't mean they will by any means screw you over, but it's more like a friendly competition and initiation. But I can understand the frustration and one day, the fake Jerry's may go the way of the dinosaurs. :) It's just part of the group and stems from years of light hearted posts in here. And I think Jerry would make exceptions for those that email on a fake GO and then follow up with an email at the correct GO.

I equate it to telling your buddy to grab a wire that you know is going to zap him a little (not harm by any means) and telling him it's safe. You laugh, he hollers and then you both can laugh about it later. I told one of the fake Jerry's I was going to kick him in a painful place at blade and found out it was a buddy. We laughed about it :D
 
I got fooled my first two ganzas... it was just barely entertaining at the time, but its growing on me:D
 
Isn't fake Jerry actually real Jerry? His screen name is spelled exactly the same. I don't think I could register as Jerry Busse on here since the name is already taken. Only way is if you were a mod or something.
 
I was fooled not on my first Ganza, but my second. Never again. I have a system in place now that helps me insure I get in. I will say no more ;)

All I would say for the future, is that it is much better to be a minute late than to be put at the back of the line.

Might be sooner than you think. At last count, I have about 50 fake Jerry's and a few fake Amy's on my ignore list and I know that I don't have them all. Last night it became very difficult for us to respond quickly as Mods due to all the fakes and with the site running very sluggishly at the same time...and all this while trying to not miss the GO myself as a customer HOG! I love the shenanigans and am guilty of a HOG trick or two myself back a few years ago ;) ...but it's bigger now than it used to be, these Ganzas, and with many more new participants in each.

It had me thinking for a minute it might be, but I caught the "Registered User" instead of Moderator. But I ended up getting myself. I thought the time difference between PST and EST was four hours and it is only three :( Needless to say I emailed a bit early on what I thought was an auto go. WRONG! End of the line :(

I would think it would have to be a mod or something also. And the fact that the person has 15 post shows they are not banned. But I don't care. I got in under a minute, so I'm happy for a first timer. Only ordered 1 blade, the NMFSHCG in tanker gray and anything. I'm so excited. Bow to save up $400...

Nah, if Knife Hunter states it's not Jerry or a mod, then it isn't. The fake Jerry's have been ordered in the past to remain in the Busse forum and to only post during the hour of the Ganzaa.

It doesn't require a mod. The similar username is created using the unicode character set. That's an extended character set to allow software support of all international characters in one 'set'. It's a programmer's thing. There are characters in the set that display the same visible character, but actually have different computer codes and so are seen by software as different characters.

Anyway, I got caught out in my first Ganza as well, back in the day, and I just sent another email when the real Jerry posted Go. No worries, I got everything I asked for :thumbup:

The next Ganza I set up my own email server in the US (I'm in the UK) with a trigger to flood pre-written emails out directly to the Bussecombat server when I activated it. That got me a lower LE number than I would otherwise have stood a chance of. The lengths we international HOGs have to go to... In those days though Bladeforums would be almost completely unresponsive for the whole Ganza hour; nothing like the little bit of a slow down it does now. I also had an auto-refresh script in my web browser to reload ten windows every second in a round-robin fashion. Yes, it was necessary :eek:

You new(ish) folks have it so easy these days :p
