I must first start by saying I am absolutely obsessed with DDR's designs. I love the Maxx and AXD and have been trying to amass a small collection for about 2 years now.
I currently have 5 of his knives. 2 that I've ordered directly from him and three purchased from members of this forum. I have also owned and sold many more.
I want to share my experience with the custom knives I have ordered.
Firstly, I purchased a custom AXD 4" about 1 1/2 years back. It took quite a while to get it as they make their knives in batches. The anticipation was frustrating as I'm sure other members who buy customs may know. However the upside was the customer service by Darrel and his staff. They were willing to keep me updated on my order any time the anxiety was too much for me to handle. They took time to politely explain where they were on the order. Darrel called me himself twice and explained my order and even took the time to get to know me and tell me about his company. He is a very friendly guy and a pleasure to talk to. when I received my order there was a mistake made. The blade I requested was wrong. I called DDR and Darrel again called me right back to make it right. He told me to send it back and it would be fixed ASAP. This kind of service is quite rare now a days in my opinion and I appreciated it greatly.
I since have placed another order for an AXD 5.5" which is on it's way now. I had a lot of questions about the knife which some could find nit-picky. I spoke to Lacy who deals with orders and customer service probably 5-7 times in a week each time a new question arose. She was very polite and helpful and like Darrel a pleasure to speak to.
I am a very particular person especially when spending $1,000+ on a knife and I must say they handled my perfectionism with professionalism and kindness. Never any indication of annoyance and frankly I would be annoyed with myself if our roles were switched.
So I just wanted to take the time and give them an A+ for customer service and quality of product which always meets my HIGH standards. I would recommend anyone interested in a DDR to place the order knowing it will be processed with care and professionalism.
