Darrel Ralph knives

Am I the only one annoyed that Darrel Ralph on many of his models
has chosen to cover the pivot screw with the carry clip. Plus,
he lines the screws with loctite making them almost impossible
to remove without stripping the screws. He suggests returning
the knife to him whenever a problem (blade alignment, etc.) but
that's a pain $$$. I'll soon have two of his knives, the Trigger
and a Madd Maxx IV 5 1/2" Carbon Fiber model. If I have
repeated problems I'm just gonna permanently remove the
carry clip and carry the knife loose in my pocket or in my
messenger bag.

You may have come to the wrong place if you want us to complain with you about Darrel Ralph. He is a legend here. Welcome to shop Talk!

Yeah,
our solution to not likeing a feature of a knife is to make one of our own without it instead of complaining. If you want to make yourself a knife, there are certainly enough people who will point you in the right direction for learning how, and where to get tools, materials etc. and some of us even teach newbies.

Welcome to shop talk :) Here's a hammer!

Agreed he's a legend. However he is pondering replacing clips on
my knives with ones permitting pivot access. So he's more than a
legend, he's also considerate.

Give Darrel a call.i have no doubt he'll mix or modify one of his knives slightly to suit your preference..,he has for me in the past.Darrel also designs most parts for knifekits,so check the site out and maybe you can modify it yourself.either way..,Darrel will take care of you!

Well Said.
He aims to please.

He's indicated, 'he'll see', regarding changing clips. I'm looking for clip
he has on his Madd Maxx IV 7" Trident knife. Perfect clip with pivot
clearly exposed. Like many brilliant people, he has his moods though,
so I'm hoping. If I don't get satisfaction I'm gonna resell the knife as
soon as I get it at the Park Central Show in NYC or on one of these
forums.....It's a knife Darrel's building especially for show that I'm getting --
Madd Maxx IV 5 1/2" blade, blood groove, carbon fiber inserts. As for the Trigger,
the seller indicated he would take it back, no problem. I'll probably just
take a pass on the Madd Maxx IV 3" bowie blade...

but Darrel is making the modifications I've requested on the
2 knives I'll pick up at the Park Central show. Obviously, I
was too quick to judge. And too I apologize to Neil Ostroff
of True North Knives, perhaps the best purveyor out there, who
has an excellent relationship with Darrel and upon whom,
although indirectly, I may have cast in negative light. Both
of them, Darrel and Neil, are good as gold. signed, soonthedestroyer
