**Precursor** I'm aware that this has been talked about on the forum already, just wanted to talk more about the character.

I know lots of you watch The Walking Dead TV show. For those who don't, you can get caught up on season 2 via iTunes season pass for 22 bucks or so. Anyways, the character Daryl Dixon is a hardcore dude that carries a crossbow, a handgun, and a Busse TG in a sick sheath. The knife is his hand to hand Zombie killer. He also uses it to cut a squirrel in half to eat it raw. He uses it for day to day cutting. He is a no frills, tracker/hunter and stone cold killer. But he has compassion too. The writers of the show have done an incredible job with his character, without a doubt my favorite character since Jack Bauer.

What an awesome knife, awesome character, awesome show.

P.S. The lead character, Rick, is a weak idiot.

I think your opinion of Daryl may be a bit biased based on the knife he carries. :p

Daryl wasn't that likable in season 1. I don't know what was up with that--the writers changed their minds on what they wanted him to be with season 2? Or they did that deliberately to show his "evolution" or something? He is a pretty cool guy, and he's my and my wife's favorite. True BAMF for when you want to get in touch with your primal side  though the writing for his dialogue is weird at times.

But I do like Rick. Why?
SPOILERS AHEAD though I doubt no one here hasn't seen everything already
He's the level-headed one who makes the hard decisions and takes the burden of everything on his shoulders. That has sort of been his thing throughout the comics, as well, but I never really saw it too clearly in the show until the season 2 finale, when everyone saw Sophia shambling out and froze up and cried and whatever, and Rick knew what he had to do. Watch it again. His face changes, and he shoots the girl without flinching, because no one else wanted to for several reasons. He might be weak depending on your zombacalypse survival philosophy, but he's strong in his own way. I can't wait for season two to resume just to see the different reactions everyone has to what Rick did. He has a place and an important role in the show, changing it from a man vs. wild zombie killfest to something the show is supposed to be about. In that sense, Shane and Daryl are good balances and keep the show interesting with conflict as well.

By the way, it was Daryl who turned me onto the Team Gemini. It didn't appeal to me at first, but now I have one and will order at least one more.

On Daryl:

He wasn't a main cast member on the first season and much of his character was based on his douche bag older brother. Now that we see the real him, it shows how awesome he is. The line he used when that kid said "I want blah blah blah" and he says "Yeah and people in hell want slurpees" almost made me piss my pants.

On Rick:

I am actually still catching up myself since I missed the beginning. I haven't see that episode yet, LOL. 2 reasons he's weak: He whines way too much about making the hard decisions. True leaders make hard decisions and move on. He whines. And the second reason is....HE ISN'T PACKING A BUSSE!

I enjoy the show and I find the evolution (good word) of the characters to make it a more complex show than I was thinking it would be at first. I love Daryl (without his brother)because he reminds me of a friend of mine ,he is a little rough but never could you meet a more solid guy. Great show , Busse combat had a contest here when they first showed Daryls knife ,if you could post the model here first you got a $100 shop credit. Awesome contest ....did I mention I won the shop credit???

I agree Daryl, has a cool, knife, but the sheath looks like the prop dept, got a nylon thing that the knife falls out of ?

He had a Buy Brown sheath but it looked so good that one of the Zombies ate it!!!!

Agreed... I was a fan of JB on 24 and it's refreshing to find another show with a no-nonsense character like Daryl. Hollywood seems to love to de-masculinate the roll of lead male characters these days, and it gets old watching the same overly dramatic drivel. Finally another character w/ his manhood firmly intact!

Liam Neeson has become an action hero because Hollywood is “sorely lacking” any real “masculine forms”, says Joe Carnahan.

Well then he needs another, I will spray it with Zombie repellant this time..........the repellant smells like vegetables :)

If you want to see a proper lead character. Find the Cinemax/Brit action series 'Strike Back'.
Great adult level action series, would be even better if someone carried a Busse.

Shame on you hogs- a thread without pics!

Daryl is awesome!!!! Not only does he carry a Busse, but he kills ZOMBIES with a Busse!! My Hero :D

daryl is a tough sob and I like that. he doesn't worry to much just does his thing and he is the only one with a busse. I'm really digging the show but I was a bit annoyed when they found the apocalypse bag full of gerber junk and then that scene where they were in the church. they saw the zombies and grabbed there new gerber blades and did them in. everyone knows those cheap chinese machetes/parangs would have broke on the first piece of bone they hit.

...Yep, my guess is at some point down the road they'll come across Daryl's long lost cousin "Hank" and he'll have to save their a$$'s with his Chuckette... Come on Chuck! Show that series what they're missing... Bring on the Chuckette!!!

Bump w/ pic...

...Also, as posted on another thread; think Busse should coincide the release of the LBTG w/ The Walking Dead season 2 premier.

Pic of new Daryl action figure w/ crossbow and TG...:thumbup::thumbup:
