The Mrs. had to work today and for some unknown reason my 14 year-old daughter decided not to sleep 'til noon today. We were both up early so we started messing around with the paracord I got for Christmas. What better place to get instructions than from a 14 year old girl, right?

She showed me a couple knots and boondoggle type things and this is what we came up with. The one on top was a practice piece.

The bracelet was from the tutorial at Stormdranes blog. The clip ws pretty big but it was the only one I had. I ran four strands for the center with 11' used in all. Its pretty thick and a bit bulky but its my first cobra knot.

Afterwards, I needed to run to the store so I took daisy for a short trip to pne of our local yet secluded spots behind the big tire. There's an access road through a small wooded area that we walk once in a while.

A stretch of the Ecorse river runs through the property. The water was high and fast today because of the warm weather and snow melt.

Its too bad that its a polluted cesspool of a river.

Thanks for looking. So far, today has been a pretty good day;) .

Excellent pictures Chris. I can't tell how many times I've passed that tire on the way to the airport. Didn't realize there was a little gem of an area right behind there. I like the river shot and the berry of course ;)

I'd say if you get bored, to cut that rubber handle of the diamond back. Actually if you remove the lanyard and just tug really hard you can pull it off. The knife is really comfy when wrapped with paracord and looks better too!

Great pics. I really like that knot on the top, was it difficult to tie?

That's one big arse tire... :)

That tire used to be a ferris wheel.

The knot on the top was the easiest to tie thanks to my daughter of course.

It's usually done with a single length but we used two scraps.

- fold a lenght over a key ring with one end being as long as you want the finished product. maybe leave an inch or so to finish it up with a knot.
- Use the long end to tie a simple overhand knot around the short piece and slide it up to the ring.
- repeat this 'til you get to the end of the short piece.

Each overhand knot will nest against the previous but off to the side giving the twisted look when finished.

I used a small piece of wire to clip the tag ends together.

If you tie a knot with a loop above and enough cord below to finish with, you end up with something like the blue one.

Thanks again.

Found out today that much of the woods have been cut. Its less than a mile from the house but I haven't been there since spring.

As for the Buck, I might give that a try. I have the 4.25" version as well. neither on see much use. I picked them up when Cabelas was blowing them out at $5.99 ea. I should have bought more! :D

Daisy is a cute pup too. Too bad about the woods. The one bright side to the economy is subdivision fever seems to be at a stand still now :D
