Got in a Custom Shoppe 110 with Elk scales, rivetless, Nickel silver bolsters, mirror polished blade, NIB. Box has no label(s); sheath is BN no wear; there is a little card that reads: Certificate of Authenticity blah blah, signed by Richard P. Rishel, Buck Knives Craftsman and Chuck Buck, CEO. There is no order number.

The blade is marked -

Buck
[anvil]
Custom
USA

I know the anvil doesn't mean anything on a custom, and with no box label it's hard to guess...

BTW: The overall finish is superb; if there is any flaw, it is that the blade is only 3 5/8" long...but with a needle point...

Richard Rishel, you did good!!! :D

El Pollo,
Are you sure it is an "anvil" and not the outline of "Idaho"?
Trolling for Chicken...
Goose.

BTW, the "blah, blah" part is funny.

Trax,
I know you're fond of the Buck custom 110's, but dating one? If I were you, I'd stick to women! :D  :D

Trax, stay away from the ones with scales...tough cure:eek:.

I'm just guessing here, but I'd say that if the box is yellow that it would have been in the past few years. Preston

Ya know, that is just messed up. Just started dating her and she's telling ya your blade is short and calling you "needle point".
I'd find someone else to date...

Yes, it's one of the pale yellow ones; not the golden yellow...

Trax, by pale yellow do you mean as in one of the ones in the pic? If you do the two piece box is older than the flip-top...I don't know what the years are for those. Someone like Larry or Joe would have to say. Preston

If it helps, my four dot stag 110 came in a flip Light yellow box. That may help with the date.

Yeah, but I bet you still had to pick up the check for dinner TLC.

I like the mirror finish blade on the 110. I'm guessing  that you can only get that mirror finish in 420(?).

And it wouldn't even let me "polish it's bolsters"....:p

Yep, only in 420HC, the ATS-34 and BG-42 blades are satin finish.

Those boxes don't look anything like what my 110's or 112's have come in...my boxes are all one-piece; with folded ends...not two-piece, and not with a folding top...and none of the yellow backgrounds is textured like the ones you show...

No, the colors are Post-It yellow for the late model boxes (so it seems - 05 & 06 dates on end label), and school bus yellow for the earlier ones, which have no dates on the labels...I'll try to get a pic up...

Here's a pic showing at least three different tints of yellow on the boxes...

Trax, I'm speculating...the variation in the tints is because of the dyes/producers of the boxes for Buck.

I have 2002 knives that came in boxes pictured on the right and 2003 knives that came in the yellow boxes like you pictured. So I would say that an unmarked/undated one could be from 2003 -2005.(Boxes so indicated should be matched with any undated 110 through the online dating service BoxMatch:Dcom).

Prehaps Larry or Joe will chime in with the correct dates for different boxes. Preston

 ...I've seen deceitful sellers trying this before with Buck knives. This seller did everything short of a dance in the middle of "Main Street" to say the auction was just for the box and papers. People just seem to read what they want to read and see what they want to see...    ...( gotta see how many boxes I have lyin' around here...LOL... )
