I am offering for sale an original Dave Beck Tracker set. This is a later production edition that was offered around the time of the movie The Hunted.

What makes this a rare variation is that it is marked "TRACKER". I have spoken with Dave about this and there are only 4 blades that were marked this way before he was forced to change the name to WSK.

Both the Tracker and the companion are in new, unused condition.

The Tracker features a 1/4"X6-1/4" differentially tempered 01 tool steel blade and an olive/black linen micarta handle. (OAL is 12 1/4") The matching companion is 1/8"X4" (8 1/2" OAL) and is also made from differentially tempered 01 tool steel. Both are highly polished and blued.

Included with the package is a copy of an article on the Tracker by Dan Shechtman that appeared in Tactical Knives magazine. I believe the article ran in 1995.

Also included is the original paperwork that was shipped with the WSK. The paperwork has been personally signed by Dave Beck.

There are many copies of the Tracker available but this is your chance to own a rare, pristine, original.

The price is lowered to $3000.00 shipped fully insured within the US. Sorry no trades.

The pictures I took don't do it justice. Between my old camera, cruddy dial up service and my own lack of photographic skills they just didn't come out as good as I'd like.

The set is truely in new condition.

Someone needs to have this set in their collection.

This set should only increase in value over time.

As I said, there are only 4 of these that I know of. 1 is in Dave's private collection, one belongs to a soldier, 1 is in another private collection (don't know who) and this one. After that they were officially called the WSK.

The old Trackers had these markings but they did not have the differential tempering, tapered tang, etc..

I am lowering the price to $3500.00 prior to taking this set to Ebay. I'd rather sell it here than there!!

Jaeger do you have more info on these sets ive got one to says TRACKER tm with no serial #S with the companion no serial # either. any info you can offer is gladly appreciated.

I would suggest you talk with Dave Beck on it. No better way to get the scoop than to go direct to the source.

When Dave was in regular production of the Trackers, prior to the release of the movie, most of them were marked Tracker tm (trademark). These models had full thickness tangs and the entire knife was heat treated the same.
Dave quit making them for a while, not sure how long though. When the movie was gearing up Brown tried to cut Dave completely out of the picture and contracted with TOPS to build the knives.
Dave had developed some additional refinements for the Trackers including the differential tempering and tapered tangs. He began to produce them again but had some trouble with Brown over the name Tracker. Unfortunately Dave had let the Tracker trademark lapse and was was forced to rename the blades the WSK.
4 Blades were produced with the Tracker stamp and the design upgrades. This is one of them.
Dave could probably shed a bit more light on the details but that's it in a nutshell. Feel free to contact him though. He can confirm the rarity of this set.

It is the original set as I received it from Dave. I'll email you the contact information for Dave. I'll be happy to get some tang pics for you. It will have to wait until later tonight though.

Ok, the tang pics have been added to the photo album.
Let me know if they are ok.

Jaeger is this a original set the companion and tracker dont have the same serial # ????????

The knives Jaeger is offering are genuine. I don't think there is any question here to that. I know Jaeger & the knives he is selling. It is a beautiful set and one which I wish I still owned.
It was not uncommon to find sets of my knives with different serial numbers on the Tracker & companion knives. The reason was that most folks only ordered Trackers by themselves. Also, there were there were four companion knife variations that I offered for these knives over the years. In most cases, you will find that the companion knife will have a greater serial number than the Trackers & this is because many more of these were produced and sold by themselves. The knife that Jaeger has in his set was that latest version & the best of the companion knives I fabricated for my Tracker sets. I believe that it has the serial number of 4.
Prior to 2001, there was a long period of time were I wasn't serial numbering my knives so you will find Trackers & companion knives with nothing other than TRACKER and my name stamped on the left side of the blades. If you have a knife that is stamped TRACKER tm, that knife was produced prior to 2000. I believe my trademark ran out around that time & I never renewed it. If I had known that it was to be used in a film and regain popularity, I would have renewed the trademark privilage and all the newer knives would have continued to be stamped with the trademark.
After the "Hunted" movie was released in 2003 & I began producing my knives again, I no longer stamped my blades with TRACKER, simply to elimimate any trademark disputes that could result because another was now using it. I hope this little bit of info helps.

Thanks for weighing in here Dave.
