I just finalized the purchase of this piece today. It will be on the way to Paul Long for a custom sheath and I will post more photos after I receive the knife and sheath. Here are some of the details from Dave.

"Overall 12 7/8" the blade 6 7/8" steel is 15n20 1084 and 1075 and pure nickel. Firepit found walrus tusk, it was a fire starter and very rare. That I know I am the first maker to put a pure nickel quill in a feather pattern bowie"

Happy New Year!!

Jon

I could have sworn I just commented on this, on this forum. But it must have been the other forum. I really like this knife. Not crazy about the line running up and down the middle, but its irrelevant. Great looking knife. I handled a feather pattern fighter of his recently and it was real nice quality.Good purchase.

Jon,

You did reply on another forum. I participate and post on 3 forums. I too was not sure about the "quill" but the fact that it is pure nickel I thought was a pretty cool idea. I like to purchase on looks but also really like things that are different. If you remember the dragon bowie, I got that from Marcel strictly for the blade composition. Not to mention that I love feather patterns and the artifact walrus ivory is not very common. The "quill" is for sure an acquired taste type of look but I am pretty stoked about the knife and Dave's work.

Take it easy, Jon

very kewl knife Jon. We are alike in our desires for something "different". I'd be bored with samo, samo lol.

I absolutely love the damascus pattern on this piece. A nice twist on the feather theme.

Great work Dave and nice grab Jon.

Jon the knife is great as a whole and that nickel like probably wouldn't effect a potential purchase. Nice piece. I had a whole new appreciation with his work when I finally got to handle it in person. I think they are different in a great way and look different from many other pieces at a show.

Very nice Jon.
IMO, Dave's damascus patterns are up there with the best.
Artifact handle material always adds character to a knife in my opinion.

Nice creation Dave and congrats on the get Jon.

I said it before and I'll say it again, Dave Lisch is one of my favourites:)
That nickel quill is ova da top!

Beautiful knife Jon. Is Paul going to pick up the quill theme in the sheath?

Kevin,

I do not know what Paul is going to do until he sees the knife. That said I like your idea and will definitely talk with him about that.

Thanks, Jon

Thanks Don I am real excited to see the knife. We are also working on a larger piece.

Looking forward to also hearing from you soon.

Happy New Year!!

Marcel,

Thanks to you I have some more on the way that I will post shortly. Here are pics of 2 different blades I am picking from for my next piece from Dave. I think I am leaning to the mosaic if only because it will be 12 1/2" blade. Let me know what you think.
