Daves Knife World: Great selection, great prices, just don't call him on a bad day

I've found the best prices on a few knives at davesknifeworld.com, plus a very wide selection. Processing time is excellent. Now I'm beginning to think he's the only person working there (low overhead) because I've called him twice and his telephone demeanor was curt. Most recently I called to ask how long it usually takes to process a refund. As I explained the question, I could sense his frustration at having to deal with another stupid question rising. His response: "That's not my responsibility. That's not my responsibility!" I'm never rude or confrontational on the phone. 10 years of customer service and you learn not to fight fire with fire. Don't get emotional, never get personal, and try to be as polite and helpful and patient as humanly possible under the circumstances.
But I'm not holding it against him since like I said he probably has an enormous workload.

On the other hand, there's a small chance he might read this and identify me so no more ordering from Dave's Knife World. But overall I DO recommend the company.

Why? Based on your post you think he is petty and vindictive besides a bad customer service rep.

I think you buy the whole package and if one would be concerned about service after the sale, that's a NO BUY in my book.

I've never used the referenced company so I look forward to the OP's response as to why they still recommend

I can't comment on your vendor, but there are too many good ones out there with superb customer service and low prices to have to deal with a dill weed. :)

He's right. It's your bank delaying it. Or your credit card company, or paypal.

I still recommend the aforementioned company because their selection, prices, and processing speed supersedes a rude phone demeanor under these circumstances. He had the lowest price on several knives I bought and each time the item arrived within 2 business days. Of course I live in relatively close proximity to the business so those who live further away will want to consider other options. (Recommendation amended.)

And to Cougar Allen: You're right, the speed of the refund--beyond initiating it--is not his responsibility. It's also clearly not his responsibility not to be a prick on the phone.

I've used DKW on a number of occasions. I've never spoken to Dave by phone, but he has always answered my mails within 24 hours.
One of the best things about his store is that if you find the same knife for less on another site, he will beat that price. When I found a cheaper Skirmish on another site, Dave gave me a 10% discount on his marked price.

If he was busy, and then baited with a question like a refund, he may be wondering if you are a customer who wants their money back, or just bein trollish. I withhold any judgement for this shop.

If were expressing interest in a model, and he was curt then I would call foul, but not in this example.
