- RICE REDUCED TO: $1425 FROM $2975. I've got an early creation from David Broadwell dated 1997 - 3 for his 3rd knife of that year. It's quite beautiful and in fantastic condition. It's for sale -- not really looking for any trades at the moment unless it were to be a W.W. Cronk or a Loveless piece. I recently spoke with David and he had this to say about the knife! "This is a blast from the past! This is a lock back from my early days of makin g folders. I numbered them at that time. Hold the open knife with the blade to your left and look inside. On the tail piece you should see numbers. One number is the year in which I made the knife, the other is the order in which it was made that year. My guess is 1994 or 95.?? I did not name my knives, nor did I have specific models. This was a one of a kind sculpted folder. The carving style is indicative of that I was doing at that time. The blade and bolsters are carbon damascus steel. I’m pretty sure it was made for me by Nick Smolen, and is most likely a mix of 5160 and 203. The blade is a loose twist pattern. Bolsters are a much tighter twist pattern. The scales are mother of pearl. I believe the liners are mild steel but can’t tell for sure. The lock bar and tail piece are from the same billet as the blade. The thumbers are turned from damascus, and held in place with a steel pin. All of the pins are 14k gold." I am now asking $1425 I am negotiable within reason of course. Its hard to gauge the value on a vintage Broadwell but I believe the price is fair.
- I doubt you can find another Broadwell from the late 90's anymore. This is a rare beauty and hard to part with it from my collection but finanical snags require attention right now...
- I Hope it reaches a great new home and is displayed and enjoyed.
- P.M. me with any questions or reply below.
