Built from forged L6 steel, this parang is long, fast, and sharp. The steel is slightly thicker than 1/8”, with convex grinds and a convex secondary bevel. It is 17.25” long overall, with a 12” blade (from the knot to the tip) and 11” of cutting edge. The socket handle is wrapped in leather and then shellacked – there is a black leather turkshead knot at both the top and bottom.
I used this knife once and got a bad stain on the left side of the blade. I polished it up (and there are some surface scratches from when I did this) but it’s not going away completely. It doesn’t affect the performance at all – this knife is razor sharp and super tough.
Comes with a leather sheath from the previous owner. The edge cuts into the leather slightly when sheathing/unsheathing the blade, but it’s a well-built sheath with great retention.
