David Lisch JS - Wild, Free and Flowing

Murray I look froward to a visit with you as well and showing you what I have. Bruce B I love your work and I remember your winding feather very nice but this pattern has been around for many years I first saw it right here on a wip thread many years ago I cant remember the maker but I do remember he called it the serpent feather so thats what I called it when I tried my hand at it. any one that has made this pattern will tell you it is a big wast of steel but the pay off is nice. Thank you all again for the kind words

I think Don Fogg made this pattern years ago. I stumbled onto it by accident after cracking a section of feathered steel and grinding it out.
Love your double take guard.

WOW!!! That sure IS "Wild and Free Flowing" Dave!

LOVE the damascus pattern, and looking at that subhilt sure makes me wish to HOLD that BAD BOY!

NICE pictures Buddy, and as ALWAYS the sheath is an added attraction!

Beautiful knife, and definatly Lisch style. Bruce, you are kidding about inventing the pattern. Right?

David told me that this would turn into a food fight. Funny. :D

Here's a detail view of the mandala put there by David "to aid in divine intervention." This is surely a good thing that did not cost extra. ;)

That's a gorgeous set of photos of a stellar knife by Dave. Awesome piece!

There are probably words that come close to describing how awesome this knife is but I certainly can't think of them. "Divine" is probably about as good as I can come up with.

I didn't get the chance to see this one at the show, but it's absolutely gorgeous! Dave's a rock star when it comes to making awesome steel into even more awesome knives! Great knife and killer pics, thanks for letting us check it out!

Dave, you're on fire my friend!!! Super super piece!

Buddy, your images are outstanding... thank you for sharing your thoughts and the images! :)

Of course it goes without saying that the leather is at good as it gets. :)

Awesome showing all around! :)

That's definitely D Lisch...wild, free and flowing........just like his hair.....:p

Just kidding Dave !

I got to handle that piece in Arkansas, and it is really special - beautifully conceived and constructed

Keep pushing the envelope my friend !!!!

I had the privilege of checking this knife out up close and personal and Buddy's pictures really show it off. This knife looks great and feels great!
I love the way Dave can combine different elements in his knives and manage to make them flow seemlessly. He shows this consistently in his work, the mark of a true artist, and always pushing the boundaries of conventional knife making.
Way to go Dave! Nice score Buddy.

wow it is wonderful to read so many nice comments from my friends, peers and forum mates. When I started this knife I was telling my friend Jason Knight I was going to try my hand at a sub hilt Jason says Do not try to make it like a big bear style sub hilt do your own thing find your own way make it your own. so as I sketched my thoughts on my steel table with my silver pencil theses are the lines that came to me. as I finished it up I was not sure how it would be received as it is so drefferent but when I held it in my hand and did the little dance I do with all my knives when they are done with my shop door closed so I do not scare the neighbors I was very glad I went down this road I will try something like it again but what your support really makes me want to do is try something totally totally new thank you all really thank you.
