@David Mary creations

I almost forgot that I had promised pics in this thread. Here are some pictures and a quick review of my thoughts and impressions. I’ve only handled it and cut a piece of slick receipt paper with it, so no carry or use yet.

This one came in the mail yesterday. The Necker 2.5 in Magnacut and Grip-Tec. The pictures don’t do it justice. The blade geometry is fantastic, the grind lines look awesome, the handle material looks cool & feels great & is super grippy (even more so when wet), the size & weight is perfect, and the sheath work is possibly the best I’ve seen. I see why folks love the man’s work! What you get vs what you pay is outstanding!

It’s a great little knife and will not be my last from David. The only issue I have is not the knife but, my hands. I’m a short man and I’ve spent the majority of my life in the weight room so, I have wide and thick hands & fingers. My fat finger keeps getting bit when in the choil, so I’m trying to decide if it’s a deal breaker for me or not. My next one from David I want to be virtually identical to this one but with something separating my finger from the blade a bit. Like I said, it’s not the knife, it my hand. That part stinks because I love everything about it.

I would just use a stone to take that point off the blade where it meets the choil.

JWright214 JWright214 thanks for posting your thoughts and pics, it looks great 👍

I have one of those 2.5 Neckers in the queue that I'm really excited for. I actually requested a "nub"/guard at the heel of the blade to prevent the problem your having.

I have an ESEE 3HM that I've never warmed up to because the edge terminates right into grip area without any kind of guard. That's the last knife I'll buy with that feature. Like SharpBits recommended, I had to blunt that portion of the blade to make it safer during use.

RE: SharpBits recommended...

I had to do the same thing with a Tojiro (kitchen) petty knife. Handling it the first thing that happened was the corner of the blade heel stabbed me quite deeply.

It was after this I was reading some reviews of the knife and people warned about this. 🤣

I loved this one so much I had to try it but, I’ve never had luck with knives that didn’t have some type of area separating my finger from the blade. Everything about it is perfect for me except for that. Because of that, I know it is probably perfect for someone else just the way it is so, I’m still debating on passing it along or trying to file that section down. Knives like the ESEE Izula, BK14, White River Backbacker, Spyderco ARK, etc with nub that separates the finger from the blade works excellent for me. Please post pics of yours when you get it! I want to see how it looks and what you think of it, because it sounds exactly like what I’m looking for.

That knife might of worked if it didn't have the index finger groove.?
I have similar kind of hands. Most handles seem too small for me. I like plain, non-controlling gripes / neutral/simple

You might be able to remove some of the index point allowing more room for your front finger

Yeah, that is an option as well. I’ve found certain finger grooves work great while others not so much. This one is great, size wise, if there was a nub to keep my chunky finger from spilling over onto the blade. I had another knife with a very similar handle shape to this one and I loved it. Hell, I love this one other than my chunky finger issue 😂. When they work, I really like them but, I’m like you and gravitate toward neutral handles with not a lot of contours and shapes. Broomstick handles, flat blocky handles, coffin shaped, and the Izula/BK14 shape are all perfect for me.

I ordered this knife as a custom and loved it !

So much so that when it was lost, I knew I wanted another David Mary David Mary knife. I picked the DM RiverHawk from @New River Knife Works.

It's been on my belt a couple days now. 4 in handle 3 in blade, feels great in hand ! I'm wearing it Horizontal on Soft Straps, also from New River Knife.

Post your David Mary,s here please.View attachment 2903343
I told folks that the lost Knife in the top pick, was within 50' of me while standing in my living room. Turns out it was 5' from me while in my bed.
I have no idea how it got where it is.
