Spaghetti tasty, noodles good, meatless sauce still yummy.

Um maybe not the best at poetry. Having said that the wood scales on the fat badger are absolutely fantastic and I would happily order the same configuration again.

Edit: not looking to win anything since we have a giveaway already.

Those firefly scales that dogwood did were [redacted]

Not to sway the results but .....

I must have missed , the part where we're told , what the knife POU is planned to fulfill ?

Everything else should derive from the functional purpose(s) the knife is intended to serve . IMO .

POU was never stated. The pattern to be noted in this knife giveaway process is that its specs are being determined piecemeal over the course of an agonizing series of endless polls. 😉

Maybe my old brain is just too atrophied to comprehend the brilliance this seemingly backwards approach ? 🥴

But no, I really disagree !

The purpose , function , environment of use etc , should determine every design and materials decision . IMO .

An art piece , wall hanger , bling bling, has totally different constraints , than a hard use ,salt water diving knife , that needs to be nonmagnetic .

Actually doesn't personally matter to me ...I almost never win any give-away type deals . 🥺

I think we’re talking past each other DocJD DocJD . Your point is valid if you want something to fill a hyper specific niche like you described, or to be the absolute best possible in its role. But for most roles just because something is not going to be the best doesn’t mean it is going to be bad. That’s where creativity and personal interest can reign.

For example I can make a hard use knife with a carbon fiber handle that won’t be hard to hold onto. Most people will just avoid carbon fiber because it is known to be slippery. And it is, inherently, but if someone really wants a carbon fiber handled hard use or tactical knife, I can make it in a way that will be serviceable for its role…. After they decline my suggestion of Grip-Tec™ of course.

Tough to pick just one ... I like both wood and micarta. Both can be beautiful and both can be highly functional. I would chose wood for aesthetics and micarta for function.
