Hello all, to cut a very long story short, the past 18th haven't been all that kind to me at all. Business and family issues have seen a darkness descend and envelope all aspects of my life. A place were no one should ever go. BUT I've made it out alive, and the darkness is lifting and the light of a new day is on the horizon! Yea-Ha!!

I chose this special sub-forum for this give a way because the warm glow given off by the porch light IS truly unique through-out the entire internet. The kindness and generosity shown by the forumites towards one another absolutely blows me away. Its hails back to a time were people gave a darn about one another, where they greeted strangers on the street with a smile and hearty 'Hello' and helped an old lady across the street. Except for places like this, that time, I think has now relegated to a bygone era. I thank you one and all. You're truly amazing!

Now for the booty! As the title says its a mystery, I will tell you this; It's a knife and a few other thing I may have lying around the place. I think most here will like.

It's open to all the usual suspects, you know who you are!

All you have to do to enter is post a picture (doesn't have to be one of your own) of the ONE place or thing you want cast your gaze on before you shuffle of this mortal coil. Not so much an activity or event, but a place or thing,....

Here's mine, it's in Mill Run Pennsylvania...

Frank Lloyd Wrights iconic masterpiece,... Fallingwater.

Why, you say? I'm not sure, from the first time I read a story in my local paper about it I was hooked. I didn't just speak to me, It yelled and hollered out to me, and still does. Of all the places on this planet we all inhabit this is the ONE for me. Once I've stood below that waterfall, I'll be able to die a happy man.

I'll let this run for a couple of weeks,

Good luck to all

Kris,.

Autumn at Walden Pond. Where Thoreau spent some time. (My favorite book)

Sorry to hear you've been going through some dark times Kris, and it's good to hear that you've passed through them :)

I've been lucky enough to travel to some beautiful places in my life, which have stayed with me. Forty years ago, my friends considered me very well-travelled, but in truth I've seen almost nothing of the world, my kids have travelled further afield than I ever have. I know there are countless sights that I will never see, but that worries me not a bit anymore, I find plenty of beauty close at hand, almost everywhere I go. Whereas, even until a few years ago, I was constantly travelling abroad, I find less and less reason to these days. Maybe it's just a phase I'm passing through, and perhaps the old wanderlust will kick in again once I retire. Before I shuffle off my mortal coil though, the thing I'd most like to see is my family, happy and together. Here are my 3 daughters, my grandaughter, and my niece :)

AAHHH Man this is a hard one.
BUT-nothing brightens my day more than winning stuff off Kiwis.
Cheers and good onya.

I too wish that my boys have good lives.

Nice GAW Kris. I know what dark times can be like and I'm glad you're getting through it.
Fallingwater has been one of the places I've longed to go to as well. It's very likely I'll get there this summer. I'll post pics of the visit if it happens.

I'll be back later with my entry!

Glad to hear things are looking up for you, and I'm happy to help you celebrate by entering your GAW.
I'd like to see Britain again, but will probably wait until they build the bridge. But I should see my cousin's camp again, God willing and the crik don't rise:

I'm glad to hear things are finally working out. Wish you all the best!

Here's mine. This would be breathtaking and frightening all at the same time:

Fun idea for a give-away. Someday I'd really really like to go up to Canada or Alaska and get an up-close (not TOO close, of course) look at bears feasting on salmon.

Easy question for me. I have always wanted to go to Graceland, the home of Elvis before I die.

I am extremely glad to hear you are climbing out of the abyss! Good luck to you Kris and thank you for the GAW!

I really enjoy hiking and the place at the top of my bucket list is all of the beautiful National Parks in Utah. Here is a pic from Zion NP, but Arches, Canyonlands, Bryce Canyon, and Capitol Reef are all on the list.

Kris,
glad to hear you're off to a new beginning and towards better times :) You are right, this is an absolutely wonderful forum; thank you for your contribution and generosity
I consider myself a very lucky person and I've dedicated the last 15 years of my life collecting visa stamps on my passport ;) yet the world is full of places I have yet to see, and I will do my best to see as much as life allows me to.
Yet, for the purpose of the thread, I'm picking one place that I'm quite confident that I will be able to see in the upcoming years.
Being a sea man and islander myself, a river rarely catches my eye so much...but this place has been haunting my dreams since I first learned about it.
Not hard to understand why I guess.
