dawsonbob?

Has anyone heard from dawsonbob?

I've heard from me . . . I think.

At the risk of boring everyone to tears, here's the Readers Digest version of what's been happening.

I'll skip all the other stuff, and get to the major reason I've been missing for awhile. I've been spending a lot of time at the VA hospital for awhile because, on top of other problems, I haven't been able to function very well: chronic fatigue, pain, no concentration, couldn't walk more than 100 feet without stopping (yeah, me, who loves to hike), memory completely shot, etc.

I just haven't been able to do anything. Some bug I picked up in some foreign land? Nope. As it turns out, my Thyroid quit functioning. Oddly, I'm really happy to hear that, because it means I'm not going to keel over and die (this week, at least). My Thyroid is never going to get any better, of course, but it doesn't matter; all I have to do is take a pill every day that replaces all the things my Thyroid used to produce, and I'll get back to normal (well, normal for an old guy, anyway). I started to take the pill day before yesterday, and I should begin seeing results in a week or two (although it will take a couple of months before I'm 100%).

I have to admit that I never knew that your thyroid shutting down (Hypothyroid) could do all those things to a person; learn something new everyday, eh?

Now that I've rambled on, aren't you sorry you asked?

I should have some Beckerhead stuff up soon, hopefully by Monday.

That's how it goes in these days of marvelous modern medicine. You can tell how old you are by counting the number of pills they add to your medicine chest every year.

feel better soon dawson!

Thanks, gundude . . . I'm planning on it. Now that we (the doctor and I) know what the problem was, the cure is pretty simple. I should get better day by day, from here on out.

:D It's up to about a dozen a day now, and climbing. I must be getting old.

Glad to hear from you DB.

Wait, you were gone? Never noticed. ;)

Just kidding, was actually about to PM you and ask if you disappeared. If you wouldn't have answered, I would have had my answer I guess

Hope you get better sooner rather then later.

Sucks! I should know. Same problem for the last ten years. Once you get the medication adjusted you'll feel a lot better. Just have to keep getting blood tests to make sure the levels stay where they should be. Good luck!

Thanks, Game. I'm still kicking . . . kinda. Hope to get back up to speed soon.:D

well, that's no fun... but it appears to be a common issue amongst the population, and good news that it's simple to solve.

glad to hear you're on the mend.

Thanks for weighing in, dingobubba. It's good to hear from someone who's actually been through this. I just never knew that someone's Thyroid could knock them in the dirt like this. Glad to hear that you're okay: it gives me hope for the future.

Thanks, Bladite. Yep, I'm on the mend (you can't get rid of me that easily . . . bwa-ha-ha-ha).

Oh, yeah . . . now you're talking! The thought of tweeners gives me renewed strength.

TWEENER! TWEENER! TWEENER!

I got to hold'em. Or at least 3 of them, the other 2 weren't there.

TWEENER!!!! TWEENER!!!!

Can you feel the envy coming through your monitor? We've been waiting a long time for those babies.

How did they feel in the hand? I love my BK-2 above all else, of course, but I'm dying to get my hands on a tweener.

TWEENERS ROCK!

TWEENERS ROCK!

Weighted forward, good ergos, 5/32" thick blades. Flat grid, and micarta handles. The one I want is the CampTweener. Can you guess what the blade looks like? I'll give you a hint, Campanion. Good hint, huh? The clip point bowie looks good to. They feel thin but balance well, all in all a solid grip with good lengthy handle. I got some pics posted in the forum, under More from Half Moon Ridge, I believe. Tweener are coming, sooner rather than later. Moose
