You don't last 115 years without great employees. Day 3 of our birthday celebration is a day we recognize the hands and minds behind KA-BAR, past and present. Share an experience you have had with KA-BAR; whether it was simply using the knife for chores around the house, food prep around the campfire, deployment overseas, or even a pleasant customer service experience for your chance to win our BK16 birthday gift. Thank you and good luck.

Bored one day, I decided to try my hand at whittling. So I went out, purchased a piece of wood and used my USMC Kabar to carve a wooden USMC Kabar.

After Hurricane Sandy, I lucked out and the only thing other than no power that I had to deal with was a bunch of downed limbs and branches. My Kabar Black Kukri was the perfect tool for the job. It sliced and chopped through everything I had and made the clean up a lot more fun than it could have been.

Thanks for the awesome giveaway!

After I bought my bk2 it brought me back to enjoying camping. I stopped going but after buying a great piece of steel it makes you want to go out and see what it can do. I'm glad it will last me a life time. Thanks for making great knives Kabar.

My brother and I were out putting up electric fencing for his goats one day. And we were quite far away from the truck at the end of the first row, and realized we didn't have any cutters. So I used my Bk9 to cut the metal wire. Ended up using it the rest of the day because it was easier. Fantastic product, and it took the "abuse" like a champ. I truly love that knife.

When I was 12 or so I would cut limbs off trees in our yard. Then I took dads USMC knife and made sharp points on the sticks and cleaned off all the small branches. Then I pretended I was throwing a javelin like in the olympics. I learned early you never cut toward yourself.

I can not say how many looks of admiration when I've pulled out a classic USMC Ka-Bar out whilst canoeing or camping to whittle a stick sharp or cut up an apple. It is a beautiful practical knife, and I use it as much as I can.

Upon recommendation from a knife dealer I picked up a Dozier Folder about 8 years ago. It was my first single bladed knife. I've done everything with it from food prep on airplanes (mil air, of course not onboard commercial flights) to prepping trout to fixing a kids Halloween costume while trick or treating. The most memorable mistake was trying to unlock a lock with it. I dinged it up of course and spent hours on a sharpener to fix it. Kabars are great, but keys they are not. It's back to being good as new and a trusted companion. I have other more expensive knives, but none more used or more cherished. You hit a home run with the 4062.

I use my KA-BARs for many things from cutting boxes and twine, food prep and clearing brush. Very handy.

I purchased my bk2 a couple of months ago and since I have been diagnosed with stage 4 terminal lung cancer this week is my first week off that I don't have chemo and all I can think of is to go outside and use my new knife I know it sounds corny but it is true. I've cut up a couple pieces of wood for my smoker and I've shown my boy how to sharpen with a stone on my bk2 just yesterday. I've always been a knife guy but I've never been so thoroughly impressed by a knife company as this. My health battle is going to be won on prayer staying strong and being positive but I believe it's gonna be easier spending time outside with my family and using my ka-bar becker knives thanks for the chance

I hadn't owned a Kabar before, and got a Kabar Mule in a trade. The quality & durability was amazing, right up there with some of the toughest folders I've owned. I decided to look further into the brand, and later bought a #1217 from a member here. I realized what I'd been missing. Everything about the #1217 speaks of history, and it handled some pretty rough use around here - clearing cactus, digging, trans-planting, etc. I couldn't find it for a while, and later found it with my son's Scout gear in his dresser drawer. I had bought him the little Remora, but he likes my big #1217 C/U.

So, I let him have the C/U, and I bought myself a #1225 Navy, and stamped the sheath with some of the milestone dates during my time in service.

I have a heck of a time splitting firewood or making kindling with my Estwing camp axe. But my convexed sabre-grind FPR BK-16 make quick work of it. And it's more fun.

Also want to share, every time I show it to or use it in front of my dad he comments what a big knife it is.
He hasn't see the 7 yet.

Would love to get a FFG 16 to complement my Ka-Bar Becker set. (It's not a collection - they all get put to use.) Already have a nice piece of wood set aside for the scales.

My very first Kabar was an old 60's model slip joint stockman. It was my grandpas EDC. He used that knife for everything. To wittle with, shell pecans, and it was his preferred knife at the dinner table. He was the first person to give me a knife when I was 5 years old. I have had one in my pocket ever since. When he died my parents secured me that blade and I carried and used it again for a long time. Now it stays in a safe place so that my son/daughter will be able to see, use, and enjoy it. Kabar is by far my favorite knife brand on the market. Good prices, for amazing materials, with incredible craftsmanship, and longevity.

My first Becker came when my daughter was born. After almost 2 days in the hospital she finally decided to come see us. My wife had secured a BK11 and had my daughter give it to me for my birthday since she was born really close to my birth date. A simple blade again became something very special. I carried and used it, and one day it will return back to my daughter when she is old enough.

I could post pictures and tell stories all day long about knife experiences, but it seems all the really special stories involved Kabar. No matter what occurs or what I may face I know a Kabar can always be depended on.

Thank you guys for making such meaningful blades.

I learned about Ka-Bar when the BK2 kept showing up when researching a good camp/survival knife. It's reputation is absolutely outstanding, but my road-to-Damascus moment the first time I saw and handled the BK16 in a store. Now it's the knife I always want to have on hand - always!

I had an old Kabar fighting knife. I thought it was World War II, I took pictures and posted in a thread. Toooj went above and beyond to help my date my WWII Kabar

Thanks alot.

I was given an engraved KA-BAR when I first joined the military. It's a beautiful weapon/tool and exudes quality but it will forever be a "wall hanger" due to its sentimental value. If I win this BK16 I'm darn sure going to use it!

I do have some smaller KA-BAR knives but I don't have any experiences talking with your customer service personnel so I cannot comment on them. However, not needing to talk with them is simply a testament to your manufacturing and quality control employees.

I remember always seeing my dad carry his USMC when we went camping. He would use it for anything from whittling to opening food items to clearing trails for the kids. I need to see if he still has it, I'd love if he passed it down to me.
